The Awesome 1200!

markdambrosio@...

My very appreciative thanks to both Charles Sinsovsky, and Roland
Christen for letting me help them dissasemble their 1200 GTO's at this
past weekend's Astrofest. While i didn't catch the assembly in time,
the dissasembly let me see firsthand how truly portable, and
compact/Lightweight (relatively speaking) the 1200 is. After owning the
HGM-200 Losmandy, i will find the 1200 an absolute pleasure to set-up,
and use. IMO, this is the finest mount that i have ever laid my
eyes/hands upon. Hope the wait isn't too much longer! :) Mark

Having just received my 1200 Goto this last week, I have to agree
with you Mark about the 1200. It is absolutely awesome! This is
one fantastic mount.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a case to store the mount
when transporting it to a remote site?

-Ray

Try David Butler at Master Cases 888 707 9333. They made awesome cases for
me. They are approved for air travel, but who would put a 1200 on a plane?

Hey John!

Maurizio sure made a nice scope for himself, didn't he?
I wish we had seeing like that (Florida) here in California.
Was he using an AP mount?

Hi Mark,

What material(s) are they contructed out of? And did you get
a case for the pier too?

-Ray

I purchased 2 cases for the 1200 mount, 1 case for the ota
and misc items,
one case for the weights, one case for eyepieces, one case
for electronics -
all cost approx $1,000. They are great cases - you can jump
on them (with
optics inside) like a trampoline and no damage!! Bob Kuberek
likes to use
my cases for step stools!!

The cases are form fitting. I brought all my equipment to Master Cases, and
they made custom cases for me. I do not know what the materials are but I
understand they are high quality as this company makes all cases for
Panavision cameras - some of the highest end equipment in the world. The
"rubber" used is very dense and will not degrade. Call David Butler at
Master Cases at 888 707 9333 to get all your questions answered. Nice guy -
reasonable - easy to work with. You would think I am affilitated with these
guys by this message, but I am not.

I got a case for everything but the pier. I saw no need for the way I set
up. I am sure they could make one if you wanted.
