PoleMaster Adapter for Mach2

Andrew Jones

Does anyone know if this adapter QH-PM-AP900A fits the 1100GTO-AEL? I am currently using the dovetail adapter that Bruce Donzanti showed in his photo. If here was an adapter that fit 1100 without any permanent marks or changes to the mount, then I might consider upgrading.

Thanks for the info.

The PM-AP900 does fit the 1100 I have one on my mount. It screws into the polar alignment hole.

There is a picture of a Mach 2 on the AP website that shows it installed on the mach2 of course, but the installation is the same on the 1100.

On the 1100AE the read head connection to the motor box will prevent you from installing the Polemaster camera onto the adapter.

You could do this since it doesn't matter if concentric to the axis:

Andrew

For clarification.

I have also used the dovetail adapter that Bruce Donzanti showed in his photo, but on a different mount. It worked well.

Sorry I didn’t notice the -AEL. My 1100 does not have encoders.

I have the 1100 AEL and you can install and use the pole master by unplugging the encoder for the DEC motor box while the camera is attached.    The mount doesn’t need powering up to use the Polemaster.     The pole master adapter can stay in the mount when you replace the encoder plug after polar aligning is complete so that the only thing you need to do to align, is unplug, place the polemaster in it’s adapter, and do the align, remove the pole master and recap the adapter and put your encoder plug back in and power up.   It does make you do the rotational adjustment each time but that only adds about 2 minutes at most.    You can either loosen clutches or (Roland please stop reading) disconnect the worm) to get your 60 degrees of rotation.  With modeling you can see exactly how close you get… well inside of 30” for azimuth.
