Micro-laptop for field astronomy
I recently got a GPD micro-laptop for engineering work travel. It is gobs of fun. Just don't forget your reading glasses. I got the cheapest model and have been really impressed with it. Due to a recent shoulder surgery, I haven't tried an occultation with it yet. I do have APCC-Pro, SharpCap and everything else installed on it with no problems. At home I plug a big screen, big keyboard and mouse into it. Works just like any other Windows PC. "Always take the high road. There's less traffic." That's amazing packaged in the size of a small tablet! Bryan

USB-3, USB-C and a native DB-9 serial port! So many things I do require talking to astronomy, scientific and networking equipment via an RS-232 terminal connection. And the keyboard is backlit and the keys have a satisfying CLICK instead of a THUD. And an 8 hour battery life. Gorilla Glass screen and a thick-walled, extra-heavy-duty chassis. And I can put it in a back pocket while I climb around inside professional observatories and telescopes. And sit on it without fear of hurting it! "Always take the high road. There's less traffic." It looks like an oversized flip-phone for us old fogies who know flip-phones but needed a bigger keypad for texting....
Cool. My biggest concern would be the small screen size. I have a hard enough time reading the screen on my 15" laptop, let alone my smartphone. C

I have been looking for the ideal travel case or bag for it. One that has a compartment for reading glasses!
