How to practice with the Keypad inside

Abraham

Is there a way to do this?  Im reading the 4.19 manual and Im about a third of the way through but have not found this section.   Im thinking just bring the CP3 and Hand set inside with the wires and power cable and try it.  Is this ok to do?

Thanks

The thing just dwarfs me which aint hard.   My 6'3" buddy helped me with the RA section.     Its been such a rewarding process.   I just keep going there in the cold and rain standing in there staring at it. Like "OMG I own this".   I'm such a lucky person.

Thank you Rolando and everyone at AP.

The AP1200 is still a mighty fine mount.

Congrats!

I suppose the way to know is to bring the CP3 keypad inside and just plug it in without the mount!

Roland Christen

You can bring the keypad and CP3 inside and plug it into the 12 volt DC to power the keypad. Then you can set up the keypad functions and explore the various menus. That will all work, but you just cannot use GoTo an object because no motors are connected.

It's probably one of the more feature rich mount keypads I've used.

Thank you!!  I really cant wait to load a new PEM curve and see how well I can dial in my tracking. Maybe even some sky modeling with APCC.   I would like to do away with guiding if I can.   My exposures are less than 2 min at 900mm.

Yes definitely possible with APCC Pro and Sky Modeling,

It already has a PEM curve loaded, so you should try it out first. Check out your tracking with the factory PEM.

I wish I could Rolando,  I indexed the gear clusters  when I removed cleaned them but my marks came off and I didnt realize it.  The 15 yr old grease was begging to be cleaned off.   This will force me to learn the technique to load a new one.      Never done this before.    Im going to use my guide camera and my main telescope for the job.......   In the meantime this is me pretending to turn random knobs and trying to look smart for the camera.

Roland Christen

Not to worry, doing a pempro run is easy and fun.
