Horizons with SGP?

How can I use Horizons with SGPro for imaging?

HI Shailesh

Here's one way to do it:

A good place to start is by first knowing what Horizons does for you. (apologies in advance if you already know this part)

This video (at this starting point) explains how to use Horizons to find and load comet data, and to slew/start tracking the comet

Once you have Horizons running and you have slewed to the comet and started tracking, you can set up a target in SGP without slewing to coordinates,

You can then just set some exposure times and sequences and start imaging

Thanks, Brian. The SGP part is where I was confused, so don't center target or auto guide, just set the start time which is the same as Horizons start tracking time or perhaps a 2-minute offset delay

correct - use Horizons to slew to the comet and it will track at comet rate. it's probably a good idea to offset SGP start time by a few minutes

iirc you have an encoder mount, correct? so you probably won't need to guide

Also select no guiding and deselect dithering in SGP.

Thanks Frank, will do.

@Brian, yes I have encoders so no need to guide, but I need the comet to clear my house which happens 5 am tomorrow.
