Dec Arc Model Failure
Well, not a total failure, but ⅔ of the points failed. Last night I tried to create a Dec Arc model with my TEC 140 on my Mach2; a full arc of M51. I'm at a loss as to why so many failures. I can load the saved failed images into ASTAP, or Image Link in APPM (using ASTAP) and the files solve almost immediately. I've created a log zip file of the model creation; link below.

There are several errors in your logs, but the most important is that you are not running the latest versions of APCC software, and perhaps not NINA either, because it wasn't responding. Sp, please update the ASCOM driver and APCC. You should probably make sure you are running the latest RELEASED/STABLE version of NINA, as Dale reported there are communication issues with the later nightly beta versions. -Ray -----Original Message----- |

Thank you Ray.
I haven't updated because I updated when the updates were first released (back in January I think), but it was causing some issues and I went back to the older versions. I never had any problems with the older versions, so when the updated updated versions came out I decided not to bother updating. Does that all make sense? I am running the latest stable version on NINA. I will update as per your request, but I have created models lately with no issues; the caveat being the setup now is a different scope. This one is a TEC 140 and the previous setup was a Tak fsq106. ~Terry |

You just changed the scope... the image scale is set to about 0.32 arc-sec/pixel. Is that correct for your TEC 140? -Ray -----Original Message----- |
|
Yikes! No, that's not right; it's more like 0.75 arc-sec/pixel

Yikes! No, that's not right; it's more like 0.75 arc-sec/pixelThen, that was very likely the problem! However, I saw another issue - the GRGD command was failing. You should update the driver to 5.50.03 (you are running 5.50.01). https://www.gralak.com/apdriver/AstroPhysics_V2_Setup_5.50.03.exe -Ray |

I just had a look at APPM, which I haven't touched since last night and the plate solve settings are 0.75 arc-sec/pixel.
|
|
Is that the latest version? In the driver it says v5.60.05.
|
|
Ray Gralak
You should only use 5.60.xx with APCC 1.9.6.x. If you upgrade APCC then you can use 5.60.05.

I just had a look at APPM, which I haven't touched since last night and the plate solve settings are 0.75 arc-Your log file shows about 0.32 arc-secs/pixel. It's possible a bad plate-solve set that value, then another later corrected it. Strange.
Oh well, I've updated APPC and the ASCOM driver to the latest and greatest, and there is even an update to NINA tonight, so everything is up to date. The skies are crappy tonight, so the next clear night I'll try to create a new model. Thank you Ray for your help. Greatly appreciated. ~Terry |

Terry please let us know how it goes with the updates - thanks

I am on the latest updates for APCC/Ascom/NINA and I ran DecArc the other night on my Mach2 with success. Hopefully this resolves the issue for you

I will Brian.

Created a perfect Dec Arc model tonight; 100% success, no failures.
But, after the model was created in the NINA sequence, the sequence went on to slew and centre (all good), autofocus (all good), then on to exposures, NINA quit. Had to reconnect everything and start another sequence. It's running now and the model is still in APPC. ~Terry |
