Cone Nebula, Christmas Tree Cluster, Hubble's Variable Nebula, IC 2169, Trumpler 5, NGC 2251, et al - a Monoceros Wide Field

Hi All,

I just put up the first draft of last night's imaging effort.

I forgot Hubble's variable Nebula was in this field until I saw it on the sub-exposures as I was monitoring the progress.

A lot of nice bright and dark nebula as well as several open clusters in this field.

https://www.astrobin.com/full/8xu2t2/B/

Details:
- Scope -> FSQ-106 at f/3.6 with the 645 reducer
- Camera -> ASI2400MC full frame color camera running at gain 158 [unity] at -10C
- Mount -> Mach2 running unguided - 108 sec sub exposures.

I recognize this area - ooks great Dean!

I didn't quite appreciate how wide that tak+ reducer ends up.  very nice combo

Thanks Brian.  Yes, the 645 0.72x Reducer QE for the FSQ-106EDX4 is really a nice way to go.

Really nice Dean.

I managed to find a 645 reducer last week, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what I can capture with it, when I get it.  It was supposed to arrive yesterday, but didn’t; hopefully early next week.

Excellent! I'm looking forward to seeing the results too.

I might be a while as the weather is supposed to turn really nasty for a long stretch.

Oh my stars that is a wonderful image, Dean.  Thanks for sharing.  Is it a composite or single frame?

Thanks for taking a look John.

The final image is comprised of a stack of 98 x 180 second sub-exposures which are then aligned and stacked by my image processing software (PixInsight).  The field is the native field of the scope + reducer + camera combo - about 380 mm focal length - so it is not a mosaic .

Dean, that is a wonderful shot! Moody kind of vibe. Like it!

I've been fiddling around with this one and have posted the final version.

https://www.astrobin.com/8xu2t2/

I can't say that it is "better" than the original... its just different.  I did delete the original that I posted and the 6 or 7 subsequent revisions that I have put up on the Astrobin site just to clean things up.
