OT: 54mm spacer tubes
Hi everyone I need to adjust my image train backfocus which is M54 all the way through, but spacer tubes at this diameter seem to be hard to find and expensive Any leads on these? Hey Brian, I picked up a set of Blue Fireball rings from Agena: They don't have any spanner notches, so occasionally it's difficult to separate two from each other, but otherwise they work well for my imaging train. -Ken On Mon, Jan 30, 2023 at 8:55 AM Brian Valente <bvalente@...> wrote:

Brian,
I have complete M54 image train. I used the QHY M54 spacer kit and screwed it to my Filter Wheel. My other end used PreciseParts adapter to connect to my Skywatcher scope. -- Kanwar https://www.astrobin.com/users/brarkevin/ |

I also use the M54 spacer variety pack from Agena, and they have similar packs for other diameters.

One thing I found is if you mix and match vendors the optical length does not always come out right, as they may not thread in as far (or too far). I also had some cases (notably Moonlite vs Fireball) where the threads did not mate nicely and they were very hard to screw on/off. Point being it's often best if you stick to one brand of spacers and adapters where practical. Also always a good idea when you finish a stack of different stuff to actually measure the length and not trust arithmetic. But Agena is my first goto. Linwood |

Hi Brian,
Teleskop-Express have M54 extension tubes of various sizes. I personally use the M54 Baader fine adjustment rings (0.3mm, 0.5mm, 1mm) and like them. They are made of aluminium. Best, Pedro |
