APPM Plate Solving Issue

Tonight I made sure the mount & camera is connected in SkyX before linking to APPM, and I successfully ran a model. Thanks!

Check and make sure you have the pixel scale correct. Also, for both of my cameras - ASI2600 and full frame ASI2400 - it works better if I set the subframe to 1/2 x1/2 center.

Thank you! Reading the manual, looks like I was not connecting the mount & camera to SkyX when trying Imagelink. I'll try that tonight.
However for ASTAP settings I have the unbinned pixel scale input, but still failed in solving... Not sure why... Thanks, Yizhou |

Thanks, Dean, but it looks like these are not the updated files. Please use this PDF link found on the APCC download page for the latest information. https://www.astro-physics.info/tech_support/software/apcc/apcc-pro.pdf
Alternatively, click on the ? buttons throughout APCC for more information on screen you are viewing.

In "Contents" there is a section on APPM. The "Plate Solve Settings Tab" section is very comprehensive. -- Dean Jacobsen Astrobin Image Gallery - https://www.astrobin.com/users/deanjacobsen/ |

Hi all,
First of all is there a good kick-off manual for APPM & modeling? I am sure I am missing the reading here... I have APCC Pro all set with the new AP1100GTO CP4, and I can connect main camera within APPM fine. I configured camera settings & plate-solve settings in the corresponding tab. In camera tab I set bin3 and 5s exposure (as I usually do, and it works fine with ASTAP via Voyager). When I hit "plate solve" or "all-sky plate solve", it can complete exposure, and i can see the preview of image window. In plate solve tab I tried both ASTAP & SkyX Imagelink. I have the "pixel scale at bin1 (arcsec/pixel)" set to roughly correct value. Both says plate solve failed after timeout... What's interesting is, if I manually load the captured image in "Astrophysics --> APPM --> solvenowxxxx.fit" in Imagelink (and have the correct pixel scale in Imagelink), it solves immediately. Same for all-sky imagelink with unknown pixel scale. But if the Imagelink is called out via APPM, it stuck at "searching" until timeout. Am I doing something wrong? Any hint appreciated! And is there any type of log I should submit and where to submit? Thanks, Yizhou |
