Can you provide the NINA log file from an example session so we can see what's going on from NINA's point of view?

Yes it does, slews the mount, NINA slews the mount to target, but I don't think I have manual control except park. When I tried to guide with PHD2, the mount stops tracking. This is with 5.50.3. David P Messier 860-823-8820

Ray, I think so but I'll check when I get back home.

David,
That was in 5.21, no error message, appeared to connect but wasn't. Connect and disconnect within a second. As a test, does the AP Jog utility, which is included with the driver, connect to the mount and stay connected? -Ray |

That was in 5.21, no error message, appeared to connect but wasn't. Connect and disconnect within a second. Version 5.50.3 connects with everything but when I start guiding the mount stops tracking. Touching thr manual control starts tracking again. I don't see any CP3S or 4s to buy anywhere. David P Messier 860-823-8820

Hi Dale,
NINA interacts with mounts only through their respective ASCOM driver. If PHD2 is connected to the A-P ASCOMDetonated! Wow, that's something I haven't heard about the AP V2 driver. :-) What error message did NINA get from the ASCOM driver? -Ray |

NINA interacts with mounts only through their respective ASCOM driver. If PHD2 is connected to the A-P ASCOM driver, and the driver blows up when NINA attempts to use it, then something is detonating within the driver.

NINA, if it chooses to support older firmware, may have to query the mount's version and restrict what it does based on the firmware version. The older controllers are not capable of some things that the newer controllers can do.

The alternative is you could upgrade to a GTOCP4 or CP3 with rev V firmware. But eventually, support for the CP3 will fall behind as new functionality is added to the latest controllers. -Ray -----Original Message----- |

I saw that 5.21 was supposed to work so I tried it. PHD2 would work but the mount would not connect to NINA. David P Messier 860-823-8820

At one point, A-P asked me to remove some options that are no longer available in the later control boxes (like focuser support), so with the GTOCP2 you should consider using the older driver. -Ray -----Original Message----- |

I don't know if you are also posting on CN, but I think someone else on CN has issues. I experienced the same thing. I ended up upgrading to a CP3 and the issue went away. The CP2 unit is quite old. I spent quite a bit of time on it and ultimately for about $250 I purchased a used CP3 and it works great. However, I can also tell you that a CP4 which I have on my 1600 works even better. I was not able to overcome my and your issue.

I have updated all the programs to the latest version. Everything connects, NINA is able to control the mount. In Ascom v2 5.21 I got the mount to calibrate and guide, but with 5.50.3, as soon as I try to guide, the mount stops tracking.

I use NINA, Ap driver and PHD2, all at the latest version, no issues. I am sure you did, if not you need to connect the mount also in PHD2. note: if you come from other guiding software , like me, please give PHD a good amount of time to complete the calibration, it takes quite a while Andrea |

Has anyone seen this problem?NINA and PHD2 both connect to the ASCOM V2 driver in the same fashion, and should be able to connect at the same time. Are you saying you went backwards on ASCOM V2 to 5.21? There is no reason to do that, the latest ASCOM V2 driver works fine with PHD2, in fact I'd grab the latest version of all those products as a start. I would start with connecting one of them, then trying to connect the other, and report back on what happens if it fails, including how you selected the driver, i.e. what it said in the drop downs in both products. You can also try the configuration button (gear in NINA, wrench in PHD2) beside the drop down and make sure the ASCOM V2 configuration dialog appears, should be the same dialog in both. But more default on how it fails I think is needed for better recommendations. Oh... be sure you are not running either of them with admin privs, everything should just run as a normal program. And confirm you are on windows 10 or 11 64 bit, right? And 64 bit NINA? Don't use the 32 bit of anything (well, except APCC as it is only 32 bit, but that is fine). Linwood |
