Updated USBserial Utilities now on the AP website.

We have posted the next version of our USBserial Utilities (v. 08) for Astro-Physics GTO Mounts on the website.

This java-based tool has several worthwhile improvements.  Among other things, it's an easy utility for keeping your GTOCP4/5 firmware updated to the latest version.

Sadly, Howard, the Mac version can not be downloaded. It says that the page can’t be found.

Hello Howard,

I updated our 3600GTO's GTOCP4 earlier today from VCP4-P02-08 to VCP4-P02-15 using the USB/Serial Utilities Tool (VSU-08). Loading both firmware files (VCPx-P02-15.pt2 / .pt1) was successful, but the WiFi module failed to initialize after the update. To be fair, we never used the WiFi hotspot and the mount initializes and works just fine, confirming it is running VCP4-P02-15. Just providing feedback and/or wondering what happened, or if I should attempt another "classic" firmware load via ethernet? Screenshot attached.

Best,
Karsten

Hi Karsten

I have a GTOCP4 as well, and had the same error. I believe in an earlier post they mentioned that particular update is not for our model (maybe for the GTOCP5?)

Hi Karsten,

Thanks for pointing the error message.  We will look into it.

There is no need to take any more actions, your update is successful and complete.  The Wi-Fi firmware for your hardware has not changed since P02-08.  If you want to confirm, choose the WiFi tab in USB/Serial Utilties, then click on the "Advanced Settings" tab.  You'll see the WiFi firmware version listed.  If it says "A4.0.4", it is already current.

Regards,
Mike

Thanks Mike, the reported WiFi firmware version is indeed A4.0.4.
