Hello AP'ers,
A very long project I was working on finally came to a close.
Over 65 hours of unguided imaging with the Mach 2, Tak Epsilon E160-ED, and the QHY600. Filter breakdowns are in the link. Beautiful field here with a ton of cool stuff to explore. I found a PN, PN Candidate, and a UV emission lurking in the data. I am sure
I will find even more over time.

Yeah, 65 hours of data at f3.3 is no small task with these tiny 3.76 micron pixel cameras. The Mach 2 is truly the forever mount for many people. Roland and crew really thought of everything, down to the excellent design on the through mount cabling.
Also, a good tip of the cap to ol' Takahashi on this one as well. Their E160-ED astrograph is seriously nice.

Your data is awesome Roland. I mean, of course it is -- you have a scope collection most of us can only dream of and awesome AP mounts.
What I actually found the hardest in all of this, is not getting nice data -- the processing side of things was the big hurdle. But, the new tooling available today makes processing a lot easier. Noise reduction, specifically was the bane of my existence.
Now, with things like NoiseXTerminator from Russ Crowman, noise is a thing of the past.
You and anyone else in the AP fam is welcome to the data here:
There is a high res version of the FIT file in there, which is much better than the JPG on Astrobin.
At any rate -- don't fret. 🙂

I bet someone can process it better than me, for sure. 🙂 I am not the best person at processing data. I spent about 20 total hours working on just post processing the masters while one portion finished and another was going, then to combine and
process them all it took about 6 more hours.

Not to worry. Going to try one 300 sec image with the 110 refractor to see what resolution I can get.
By the way, here is my IC1396 taken with my 10" F6.3 prototype Mak-Cass, with a tiny chip: https://www.astrobin.com/full/g0bpv3/C/
Resolution is going to be a combination of seeing conditions and aperture. There are some nights my 17" astrograph cannot outperform my 130 GTX except perhaps in total light grasp. The 10" seems to be about right for conditions around here.

Be careful what you wish for, Roland. I have easily put in 65 hours on golf in the past two months and the results are not nearly as pretty. But my efforts do technically qualify as "unguided." 🤔

Resolution and detail of the trunk in that is excellent, Roland. IC1396 is a target I would prefer to use a scope without the spider on. I do like spikes on certain images, and this one for me was not too bad -- but I love me some round stars like that Mak
makes. My image has Garnet star in the frame, at a specific spot so people can appreciate the spike and maybe overlook the thousands upon thousands more in the picture.

🙂 It is now though, and I am very excited to see how it does.
I would LOVE to see a good 5 min HA sub on a IMX455 with the 110 GTX. I can only imagine how pretty that will be from edge to edge.

This is a crop of the similar field from this setup. Does not have the same great resolution the Mak has, for obvious reasons, but for a 6" compact reflector, this is not bad at all I dont think.

You have that 160 dialed in to the max. I don't think a 110 can beat it. The 160 has a 2:1 light grasp advantage. Will be interesting.

Your data is awesome Roland. I mean, of course it is -- you have a scope collection most of us can only dream of and awesome AP mounts.
What I actually found the hardest in all of this, is not getting nice data -- the processing side of things was the big hurdle. But, the new tooling available today makes processing a lot easier. Noise reduction, specifically was the bane of my existence.
Now, with things like NoiseXTerminator from Russ Crowman, noise is a thing of the past.
You and anyone else in the AP fam is welcome to the data here:
There is a high res version of the FIT file in there, which is much better than the JPG on Astrobin.
At any rate -- don't fret. 🙂

Over 65 hours of unguided imaging with the Mach 2, Tak Epsilon E160-ED, and the QHY600. Filter breakdowns are in the link. Beautiful field here with a ton of cool stuff to explore. I found a PN, PN Candidate, and a UV emission lurking in the data. I am sure
I will find even more over time.

It's an excellent scope, especially with regard to the size of the field it can produce. I imagine one could make a wall-size print of your image and it will still be sharp up close.

This is a crop of the similar field from this setup. Does not have the same great resolution the Mak has, for obvious reasons, but for a 6" compact reflector, this is not bad at all I dont think.

Resolution and detail of the trunk in that is excellent, Roland. IC1396 is a target I would prefer to use a scope without the spider on. I do like spikes on certain images, and this one for me was not too bad -- but I love me some round stars like that Mak
makes. My image has Garnet star in the frame, at a specific spot so people can appreciate the spike and maybe overlook the thousands upon thousands more in the picture.

I would LOVE to see a good 5 min HA sub on a IMX455 with the 110 GTX. I can only imagine how pretty that will be from edge to edge.

Resolution is going to be a combination of seeing conditions and aperture. There are some nights my 17" astrograph cannot outperform my 130 GTX except perhaps in total light grasp. The 10" seems to be about right for conditions around here.

In term of raw speed, no. But in terms of image quality, and ease of use -- I would think the 110 would be much more friendly. I dont know if the 3.5" focuser is the same one on the 130GTX (I would assume so? Maybe a few changes to mate them together) but that
3.5" AP focuser is incredible. I hung well over 14lbs of big bulky camera mess on there, and took this in 90 minutes on the GTX with its flattener:
Excuse the blown-out stars, that was not the scope it was me in post making a mistake. Point is though that the stars were perfect, focuser was well up to the task, and the optical system was divine. The subs are beautiful from the 16803 and GTX combo. One
of my favorite combinations to use, and the only refractor I trust with the 16803 is my GTX. I have a TOA150, which is a good scope as well, but there is no way I am daring enough to put that PL16803 refrigerator on the TOA150 with its stock focuser.
