Wax Stainless Steel Weights

Emilio J. Robau, P.E.

Back in the day I would wax my surfboard.  I nearly drowned once so I gave it up.
I used to wax my skies, but I gave that up since I am far from a performance skier.
I am too old to wax off any body hair.
I never waxed my weights on my 1600,  so I now suffer from some superficial corrosion and very very limited pitting on my weights that I hope can be removed.
I am not selling my mounts, but due to embarrassment that I let my weights loose their fine youthful gloss I am looking for a recommendation on how to try to clean them up and then wax them.   So, what is the pleasure of the group for waxing your weights?

Thanks in advance for recommendations for cleaning them and then waxing them to preserve their youthful look.

George

Emilio,

Clean the weights with and S.O.S. pad or Brillo pad; rinse them well and dry them thoroughly.    Now apply the car wax.    They’ll look like new!

Regards,

George

Thanks George,

Too bad we can't turn back the hand of time on our bodies as easily.  I was wondering about the Brillo pad.  You answered my question.

You can use Bartender's Friend polishing powder and just a paper towel. It will come nice and clean.

I lost my youthful glow a while back.  Tried everything to get it back with no success.

However, I've been a Bartender's friend for a while and I never tried Brillo pads.

Stuff to ponder. 🤔
