Hello could anyone tell me if the hex bolt behind the large cog should be loose of tight I was doing a bit of maintenance checking and found the one on ra was loose and one on dec was tightÂ

It definitely needs to be tight, BUT first call George here at AP so he can advise you on how to adjust it.
