Jupiter and Saturn with AP 130 EDF
Jim Fakatselis
Thought I’d share some results with the vintage AP130 EDF on Mach1GTO and my new QHY5III485C OSC CMOS planetary camera. First time I’ve tried OSC, not too bad for the north shore of Long Island Used a TV 5x Powermate barlow for an efl of f/30, around 3900mm! The seeing was unusually steady during the captures, best I’ve seen in quite a while Captured 5000 frames and used best 75% in Autostakkert3 and then AviStack for wavelet filtering. Jim

Very nice, Jim! Jupiter’s colors are particularly striking. Karen AP

Yes, indeed. And you don't need a C14 to get great, detailed images either. Well done! Jeff On Wed, Sep 8, 2021 at 11:10 AM Karen Christen <karen@...> wrote:

Those are both very nice! They are amazing with 130 mm of aperture.

Unusually steady seeing indeed! Nice job!

Hi Jim,
I just got this camera and looking for the spacing (extenders etc) for my 130 EDF with the 5x Powermate or the 4x Powermate. Thanks John |

Hi John, Here’s a photo of the setup. Just need to reach focus with one of the long AP extensions and the camera fully inserted into the 1.25 in eyepiece holder. Please show us your results.
