Worm mesh and PEC
Pawel Lancucki
Hi guys
I have a quick question. It is tome for periodic worm mesh adjustment on my AP1100 (not the new version with spring loaded worms). The adjustment process itself is easy enough, but I have a question: after RA worm mesh, will the PE curve remain valid, or should I re-train PEC? CS Pawel Lancucki |

Why would a periodic adjustment be needed, do you see backlash? If not, don't bother.

Hi Pawel,
The PEC doesn’t need to be redone, as long as you didn’t
move the locked RA axle relative to the worm. The worm gear and its worm are
still in the same position, and any relative position “mating discrepancies” in
their teeth have not changed. You only need to reprogram the PEC pattern
if they have been shifted, such as possibly during a regreasing.

Theoretically the PE should remain the same. However, it may not if there is a peculiar wear pattern on the worm that is different at various tooth heights.

Hi Guys
Thank you for feedback. I think I will re-run PEC anyway after the worm mesh adjustment, now on the next full moon ;-) CS Pawel Lancucki |

Pawel,
Don’t forget to SAVE the current PEC curve data first.
before doing a fresh one.
You never know if your initial one, which can be restored, was better
to begin with. Would be nice if PemPro popped up a reminder to do so, or it
would just save it automatically, as a backup, even for comparison tests.
