Wait times any less now on the 1200's?

I just placed an order for an AP1200. Needless to say I am very
excited and anxious. With all the talk of the new facility, what are
the chances I'll have a new mount by the end of spring? The young lady
on the phone said it was likely that I would make the next production
run, which is under way. Is the end of spring too optimistic? Or is
fall more realistic? Any thoughts?
Thanks

Well, that's an interesting expression.

I don't know if my recent experience is indicative of the state of affairs
regarding waiting times for an AP1200 mount, but here's the time line that I
experienced: (1) I added my name to the AP1200 wait list in late April 2006;
(2) in late July, I was notified that my name had come up, so I sent in my
deposit; (3) by the end of November, I was told that the mount was nearing
completion, so I paid the balance due; (4) about three weeks later, it
arrived.

So, from wait list to delivery, my AP1200 mount took 8 months. That's a far
cry from the 3-1/2 years that I waited for my AP900!

It seems that Astro-Physics' addition to their production facility has
helped tremendously to truncate wait times. Perhaps one day in the
not-to-distant future, these mounts may be purchased off the shelf.

Now, if only it were possible to get one of their scopes so quickly . . . !

Hope this helps,

Similar to a MacDonald's drive-through? :-)

Marj: Welcome to AP. May I take your order please?
Customer: Yeah, uumm, I would like an AP160, a couple of Travelers and
an FCC for each.

Marj: Will that be with or without a GEM?
Customer: Oh yeah, throw in an AP1200GTO and AP900GTO.

Marj: We have a special on counterweights. Buy one, get one free.
Customer: Okay, I would like to buy a couple of 18-lb counterweights
and the two you have for free.

Marj: Will that be all?
Customer: I forgot, I need a Losmandy saddle plate for each mount as well.

Marj: Thank you for your order. The total comes to $42,530.00. Please
drive through.

Actually there is a little typo ... "from your mouth and to God's ear"
and is based on the concept of someone praying to God for something to
happen.

Anthony.

The next production run of 1200s is underway. Delivery estimated in the summer, but its too early to be more specific. We won't open the orders until we get a bit further into production. Although there is a list of people waiting to order, if you place your name on the list today (or are already on it), you have an excellent chance to make this run.

Hi,

I've just joined the group, since I'm thinking of an AP900.

What's the wait time like for the AP900 now?
I see the occasional one come up second hand, but a 3-4 year old model
is hardly any cheaper than the quoted new price, I assume because of
the rarity - supply and demand...

If a new one is possibly only 6-months or so away, then I'd wait and
get one new.

Cheers,

John

John,

There is an AP900 (2006 model) right now on Astromart.
