130 EDF Starfire Field Flatteners
Roland Christen
Hi Astronuts,
Some time back we ran out of 130 EDF field flattener optics so we have not been able to supply any for people that have these scopes. Can we have a show of hands of people who have these scopes and would like to have one?

Hi Roland, I'm getting ready to order a Field Flattener for my 155 EDF soon.... Ken Browne 503-806-2026

I would buy 2 of them, Roland.
Thanks,

Happy Thanksgiving, Roland - My 130 EDF (#421 with FeatherTouch focuser) would definitely be happier with a dedicated flattener, so add me to your list.

Happy Thanksgiving, Roland. Definitely add me to the list of people interested in the flattener for the 130EDF. I have a late model from 2002 or 2003 (S/N 421), the version with the FeatherTouch focuser. I keep thinking that this scope calls out for a larger-sensor camera if I can get a good-quality flattener. Thanks for not forgetting about us.

I have one, an f/6, and would like a field flattener for it.

A question from a newbie on flatteners....
Will this flattener work on a TMB-130SS 130mm f/7 APO? I have a Feather Touch focuser attached to the OTA with an AP #A1008 2.5" extension tube from the focuser to a Pyxis rotator. Thanks for all information. --- Mike

We have flatteners for the 130F6.3 GT and GTX.
The scope that we ran out of was a much older 130F6 Starfire, which had a different optical design and will not work with the newer GT/GTX flatteners.

I have a 130 GT at one home, and a 130 GTX at another.. They’re fantastic Thanks,

Most likely our standard GT/GTX flatteners will work on TMB scopes. However, these flatteners require the Feathertouch 3.5" focuser with our AP dovetail adapter. It might be difficult to cobble together a suitable adapter for your scope.
The EDF field flattener only fits the 2.7" focuser that came standard with the 130 F6 AP scopes.

Are you talking about the 67PF562 Field Flattener?
I have a Starfire 130mm f/6 Starfire EDF APO. I believe the 67PF562 is the flattener for this scope and have been looking to purchase one for a while.

Yes, that is the one we are looking to make. If enough interest (seems to be) we will make a small final run.

I didn't find a dovetail adapter on the AP website that looks like it threads onto an FT 3.5" focuser. But if the adapter you're referring to does so, it sounds like I could use a GT/GTX flattener without much cobbling. Can you give me the part number for the dovetail adapter? What size/type threads are on the camera side of the flattener? Thanks again. --- Mike

Any interest /possibility in a run of the 4” FF for the 155/140?? Jeff

Some clarification is in order: 67PF56, this is the part number for the original field flattener for the 130 f6 StarFire EDFS. This is the one that we are considering making optics for. The design has been updated and we will probably assign a new part #, especially since this on will be to confusing because it is too close to ……
67PF562, this is the field flattener that we offer for the 130 f6.3 StarFire GT. This field flattener uses the same optics as 13035FF, but the housing was made for the 2.7” focuser. These are in stock.
13035FF, this is the field flattener for the 130GTX or any 130 GT that was upgraded to the 3.5” focuser. It has the same optics as 67PF562. These are in stock.
I hope this helps.

I had written to AP back in 2019 about the correct FF for my 130 f/6 Starfire EDF and George said I needed the 67PF562. I did not purchase a 67PF562 at that time.
It seems that George may have made that recommendation based on the unavailability of the 67PF56 that Marj references above, which seems to be the "better" option for my scope. If the 67PF56 is indeed the correct flattener for my scope, then I would be interested in getting one if AP initiates another production run. Jerry
