I was testing a new system a few months ago and had the same issue. ZWO pick-off prism was too low. Irregular shadow with stars still visible. Raising the prism eliminated it.

I cannot speak highly enough of ATS portable piers - a bit more expensive - but rock solid and a great aesthetic and functional match for the larger AP mounts.
