Equipment for an observatory
Will you have someone nearby to assist with troubleshooting and repairs? No such thing as autonomous. If it can fail, it will. Speaking from experience. jg

Mach 2 modeling with partial sky view
#Mach2GTO
I don't think you need to do full sky modeling. Model on the area you wish to image from the POD, and run with that. Seems simpler.

Hydrogen clouds of the Bubble Nebula
Lovely shot. The only problems I have had with 1 hour subs is temp change, resulting in focus change during the long sub-exposures or running into the dreaded "mount flip" before the exposure is compl

Olympus Mons with the Mak 10

Olympus Mons with the Mak 10
The telescope was Roland's fabulous 254mm f/14.5 mak cassegrain. Perfect collimation and superb if not borderline perfect optics. Imagine having a 9-inch refractor to look through. 600X? No problemo.

140/155 4” Field Flatteners
Yep, the 67 flatteners that came with my 155 f/7 and 180 f/7 create a lovely 100mm image circle with minimum vignetting and great sharpness across the entire circle. A large array for that full covera

Capacity check on AP 1100
In my humble opinion, my 1100 is just adequate for the AP 10" by itself. I would probably only be satisfied with a 1600 under it. But I am weird that way. ;-) -j

CDK 14 on a Mach 2?

I'm always amazed that folks buy really big, expensive telescopes, then want to undermount them. So it has always been in this hobby, so it shall always be. j

Over-mounting reasons are obvious. I have typically run my Tak FSQ with 16803 camera, filter wheel, atlas focuser, guidescope on my AP 1200. Not over-mounted by any means. I can also carry my 155 edf
