Since PEMPro utilizes ASCOM, and I'm sure you use the ASCOM reference implementation, Mac users might be out of luck. The ASCOM maintainers over at http://ascom-standards.org/ have done a Bad Thing in

That's really great to hear! But the context of what I said was about the hear-and-now rather than what's down the road. However true the market share stats may be, this logic can be flipped around :)

Looking for battery recommendations
Hey all, I've put down the %50 needed to secure a Mach1GTO from this spring's manufacturing run. Needless to say I'm excited. So now I'm looking at accessories, and on the list is a portable power sou

AP 1200 got lost again!
If the GTO control box code contains timezone maps to convert GMT/UTC to local time, then those would indeed need to be updated and a new firmware released. If his problem magically goes away on April

Mach1 and checking PASILL4 results
I agree that the quality for the PAS is especially important for ease of use in a portable situation, but I hasten to add that the QC you propose seems fairly labor intensive. Unless an artificial tes

CP's focuser port
Here's a question about the GTO CP's focuser port... I know it's designed for the JMI microfocus, but I'd like some clarity on its capabilities vis a vis focuser control. It's not just there to provid

CP's focuser port
I should qualify this further - I know that an attached focuser could then be controlled via the keypad.. but how about from an external source over a serial connection (ie, ASCOM) ? /dale

CP's focuser port
That's what I thought - I just wanted to be clear on whether the focuser could also be controlled over the serial ports, not just the mount servos. ASCOM control of the focuser would be a nice feature

On the subject of serial ports...
I got my first AP mount this week (huzzah!) and can confirm that the Keyspan UPR-112 "Mini Port Replicator"[1] works fine with the GTOCP3. Confirmed in both Mac and Windows. What I think is nice about

On the subject of serial ports...
I don't see why it wouldn't work, protocol-wise. This mini port replicator is essentially a standard USB hub. The only sticking point would be the additional power draw. /dale

Another USB/Serial adaptor tested
I came across a IOGEAR "USB PDA/Serial Adapter" (GUC232A) [1] for $30 at my local Microcenter last night, and was interested by its design. It's more "dongle-like" in that, as you can see from the pic
