It moves. Do I need to disengage the motor boxes in order to manually set the park position?
NO! Do not disengage the motor boxes. Do the following in the order shown:

1) Go into Settings on the keypad and set the mount to Autoconnect NO
2) loosen the clutches and set the mount up in Park3 position. Tighten the clutches.
3) cycle power and go thru the startup procedure of Location, Time etc. Make sure they are correct.
4) Then choose New Setup and Start the mount from Park3 position.

That's it, you are done. The keypad will be in Main menu and you can then slew to any known object and it should be in your field of view. Note, however, if any of your Time, Date, or Location data is wrong, the mount will not point correctly.

I need to get pack to Park 3 position but the mount will not when the #3 button of the keypad is pushed. How do I do this? I tried disengaging the clutches and letting the both axes go through the motions, while holding the the mount (not easy with a C11 and 80mm refractor) in the Park 3 position but no go! Please help. Thanks.

Hello,

Long time listener, first-time caller here. My name is Derrick Siebert and I recently acquired a used Mach 1 mount with a upgraded cp4 computer. I am mounting a stowaway to the mount and I noticed that there seems to be a small amount of backlash in the Dec axis. None in the RA axis. Tightening or loosening the clutch screws does not seem to make any difference. Is this normal? I am sure I will have more questions as I progress through the process so stay tuned for a few laughs from a neophyte.

Your worm mesh may not be fully set, but it really won't have any effect on visual or even imaging with such a light payload. I would go ahead and try imaging. Do a calibration run in PHD2 using the assistant and it will tell you what your backlash is. If it's more than 2 seconds, then it's time to re-mesh the worm.

You have one of the older mounts which does not have the automatic worm mesh, so you will have to do it manually. However, before you do, try it with PHD2. You may find that it guides quite well.

I hope I can attach files here. This is an overview of the setup and a piece of masking tape I drew a line on and rotated the Dec axis until it was on the opposite side of the "play". It's minimal but would be definitely noticeable observing or with photography I think.

I dont think CP4 alone will make my Mach 1 track better. Safety slews would be nice to have, ethernet is nice to have, etc. Still mulling this over.
Benefits:

1) Sell CP3 if you get CP4
2) Better resale value if mount is equipped with CP4
3) I really like using Ethernet

It's a really nice camera with a compact 7 position filter wheel. My filters are Astrodon which produce no halos around bright stars and are basically perfect. Mechanically it is robust and it works in freezing temps fit for polar bears.

Well, it's the overseas shipping that's the biggest nuisance.  When I bought the camera, I had spent a lot of time talking to Kevin Nelson, then of QSI, and I was comforted by the availability of domestic repair.  Of course, none of us dreamed of Neal Barry's passing and the subsequent upheaval in QSI's ownership.  On the plus side, QSI survived as a brand.
