Hi George

Would you recommend using a dielectric grease on these connections to minimize / prevent corrosion ?

I have never seen any corrosion on my keypad or mount cables, but I have seen some corrosion on the USB cables that plug into my cameras.

Dean,

You may be experiencing some oxidation issues also.   Please see our Keypad Maintenance Instructions on the Tech Support page for safe opening and checking.   Plug the connectors in and out a few times and insure that they seat fully.

I have a backup keypad that I need to replace the old battery and upgrade to the most recent software version.  It hasn't been used for a couple of years.  When plugged it into the CP3 controller for the 900 I got a flashing version number followed by a question mark and then the keypad hangs.

Is this to be expected with a completely dead battery, or is this an indicator of a more serious problem with the keypad?

Re: AP now open - question about mount manufacturing order/priority

Shailesh,

Unfortunately, we don’t have any 1100s available for new orders. We started production just before our shutdown, so are just getting back into that groove. I would anticipate that we would have some available in the Fall. We are not accepting orders for the new run yet.

We will likely begin our Mach2 notification for the next run this month.  The parts for these mounts are nearly complete. We’ll should be able to start assembly on these as soon as we finish the first run.

I just saw that Marj posted a blog on Friday that communicated to us that AP is up & running with full staff today. This is great news.

This implies that mount production is restarting, please correct if wrong.

I am on the list for a Mach2 from April 2019, but would like to know when an AP1100 with AE may be available.

Any eta about order of assembly & 1100 vs Mach 2?

Shailesh

Hello,
Looks great, but where have you seen the case with foam for under $300.00?

Thanks.,

This baseline procedure was put together by one of the responders on the PHD2 forum.

"A good way to ensure a solid guiding baseline is to follow the baseline guiding steps, link below. I realize you may have done many of these steps already, but doing them as described gives you (and us) a clean calibration, GA run, and guidelog from which we can further look at your results

if not, at least do a fresh calibration near the meridian and celestial equator intersection (dec close to 0) followed by a guiding assistant run and 15-30 minutes of uninterrupted guiding"

I added a GTO 1100 with CP4 to my existing GTO 900 CP3. One of the reasons I did was because of the Wireless. Sadly the wireless on the CP4 is problematic. I and others have issues of it dropping connections and than having a hard time reconnecting. I was one of the early owners of the CP4 and although there have been a few firmware updates on both the CP4 and hand controller, nothing has corrected the issue. I run Sky Safari Pro latest versions.  I finally had to go with a SKYFi latest unit which does work flawlessly with Sky Safari Pro. I run with a couple of Samsung Android devices....tablet and cell phone. I know AP has been trying to figure out what the issue is but not having any luck. Those runnng Apple devices may have different experiences.
In short if you are happy with the CP3, and want wireless the SkyFi unit does work great and you won't need to upgrade to the CP4....especially for visual.

I can't figure out why SkyFi works so well and AP doesn't. Perhaps it is the wifi module in the control box itself.

Re: SkySafari Pro 6 with GTOCP3

Dominique Durand

Hello,
I confirm that the combination Mach1CP3 / SKYFi3 / standard RS232-USB converter / Safari 5 plus works well on my Android Cell phone. However, I still have the keyboard plugged in and in particular to put in park3 at the end of the session. I turn on the frame which automatically unpaired, I connect with Skysafari which synchronizes with the frame.
I also tested the connection with a Mach1 CP4 and I also noticed disconnections, the reconnection being quick to do.
By cons I have a problem with my new mach2 CP5. The connection is done well but not the synchronization if I have not previously turned on the mount with connection to APCC (or to the driver). I can move the mount with the arrow buttons, but the indication of positioning in the sky is not the right one and the GOTO does not work.
Is it the absence of the keypad?

Dominique
