Thank you.
Sorry, I have no more ideas on the USB connection issue but I will endeavour to keep my eyes open for solutions from my other circles. All the best. C

Re: ASCOM 6.6 is out. Anybody tried it yet?
Erkaslan Aygen
Seems okay also with me except the problem that mentioned earlier today, i.e issue to create virtual ports !

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error
Larry, the next step is connecting APCC to the mount. After installing the proper driver you have a COM port now, but the cable must be connected to the mount, and the mount powered on. Then once APCC is connected to the mount, you can test the ASCOM driver.

So, what is the next step? Should I find a usb cable and try connecting without the serial cable and serial to usb adapter?

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error
Yes, as I said, you cannot test the driver unless APCC is connected to the mount.

Ray, I did as you said and it still does not connect to the driver. You will notice in the attached screen shot, the "Connect" box is grayed out for the driver.

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error
Ray, can this be done with the mount cable disconnected?Larry, you do not need to be connected to the mount to do the configuration with the "Now" button, but you won't be able to test that the ASCOM driver can connect through APCC unless APCC is connected to the mount. -Ray

Typo. All at - degrees. BrrrrrOkay, then the few degrees C difference between the readings will not matter much. -Ray

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error
Our posts crossed paths about the driver! :-)
However, now it says it cannot connect to the driverWith the AP V2 driver shut down, try clicking the "Now" button in APCC's "AP V2 Driver" group box. This will configure the driver's COM port and a few other things. There will be two popup message boxes to which you need to click "OK". -Ray -----Original Message-----

Larry,

Before you do, are you sure that you have installed the driver for your USB/serial converter? This may be different than the FTDI driver for a straight USB connection to the mount. -Ray

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error

Ray, I found the right driver for the adapter and now APCC recognizes the com port. We are making progress. However, now it says it cannot connect to the driver. This is a Win 10 computer which was updated to Win 11. The APCC version is 1.9.0.11 and the installed driver is 5.40.01. Where do I go from here? Thanks for hanging in there to help me get this sorted.

Brian, thanks for the suggestion. I have been solused to using the serial cable with serial to usb adapter, that I completly spaced it that there was a usb connection. I will make the switch asap.

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error
Larry if you are using the DB9 port on the GTOCP4/5 , I really recommend you switch to a full USB cable (no serial adapter), at least for now

APCC : Failed to Create All Virtual Ports
#APCC
Erkaslan Aygen
Hi everybody,
I hope you are doing well. I am in the process of installing my software etc on a brand-new PC. While trying to install APCC, I was stopped by the following message that I keep getting. Does anybody has an idea ? In addition, I am getting a warning message once APCC is launch ; error creating visual port 1 control :( Thank you for your help. Regards, Aygen

Re: Troubleshooting the APCC Elitma Error
I am not aware of another way to connect to the Mach2 mount.Larry, there are three ways you can connect to a GTOCP4/5: via one of the DB9 serial ports, the USB port, or the Ethernet port. Just to be sure you are using an adapter, are you plugging the cable from the computer into one of the two 9-pin COM ports on the CP5? -Ray
