Try heating the adapter with boiling water. 

I would actually try the opposite, putting it in the freezer so metal contracts and parts loosen...

The adapter (black part) is off so it'll not be marred. The threaded sleeve is stuck onto the CW shaft. I'm worried that I'll mar the exterior threads of the sleeve while trying to get it off.

But in the end, it may be that I'll need to get a new sleeve if I can actually get the sleeve off. 

I'll talk to my friends who actually know how to do this. I don't have too many tools at home because don't want to hurt myself :)

It is not likely that the shaft and adapter are actually cross threaded. You would have know if that happened since you would not have been able to thread the shaft all the way in.
It is possible that there was some contamination on the threads of either the shaft or the adapter when you made the connection. Try heating the adapter with boiling water. That may
expand it enough to enable you to tap it loose with the mallet.

Hi David,

3 things quickly come to my mind:

- While that’s not a reason for it « not to work », the PoE feature may be useless depending on if your router supports it or not (usually requires a beefy power supply) or if you plan to upgrade to one that supports it in the future. That company sells a similar model without PoE which is likely to be cheaper (I have not checked). Of course, for similar pricing, it is a nice to have.

- They don’t specify environmental operating conditions in the datasheet, so you might want to check with them if it is suited for outdoor (temperature range, high humidity, etc) or at least for likely conditions at your observing place/observatory.

- last, the Ethernet speed supported is 10/100 Mbps ONLY (no 1000 Mbps, ie 1Gbps) so make sure your router supports 10 or 100 (or both) otherwise it will NOT work (the underlying « protocol » is different for each speed).

Thank you Ray! I installed the version that you linked and all is working well now:)
Strange thing is that the 1200x rate worked fine with my cp4 1100 mount.

I have another issue with Nina and the mach1 but it could be related to the same driver problem. I will test tonight and may start a new thread.

Hi Joe,

 

It's hard to say what resulted by disabling the virtual port. If you uninstall APCC it will uninstall the Eltima virtual port driver. Then when reinstalling APCC, make sure to enable the checkbox to install the Eltima virtual driver again. This should put the virtual ports in the default state.

 

Note: the virtual ports that APCC creates only exist while APCC is running, so you won't see them in Device Manager when APCC is not active.

 

And, normally, you won't need to manually create the virtual ports. APCC will automatically allocate appropriate port numbers. And APCC will configure the ASCOM driver if "Auto-Config" is enabled in the AP V2 Driver group box, as shown here:

Hi Andy,

I think there is an issue setting the proper move rate with 5.30.10 with CP3's. Almost all of the changes in the 5.30.x versions were for the Mach 2 and GTOCP4. If it’s a problem you can fall back to v5.20.01 until a new driver version is released.

If you would like to go back to the older driver, here is the link. You don't need to uninstall 4.30.10. You can just run the 5.21.02 installer.

Yeah the impressive thing for me isn't just the scope, as the Mach 2 can easily handle that within specification. It was how loaded down the total system was, it's size, AND the total length of the system at critical focus. 68 lbs of gear at that size and total length is asking a lot.

No problem for the Mach 2 though.

I find very useful for debugging USB issues.  It basically tells you everything Windows knows about every USB port it ever connected to (at least unless you clear some how).  Windows remembers stuff it does not show you; the intent is that reconnections should yield similar device information including COM port numbers.

 

I use it just to view, but it has tools to disable, enable, and remove connection information.  But at the least, it may let you find things.


Note the default display is REALLY wide, so you have to scroll way right at times to see certain info, like manufacturer, version, etc.

 

I’ve used it for years, it is “safe” in the sense there is nothing malicious, but it also has a certain amount of power, so use the options to change things carefully.

Makes me hope and worry that my name will come up for one sometime in the near future.  I dont see myself ever getting a bigger scope than what you are using on here.  In fact I probably wont go bigger than my EDGE 925 and 130GTX, which this mount would not even realize if either is loaded!  Blown away by this performance you are reporting.  Congrats to AP for executing such a capable instrument.
