Re: LED in Mach2 RA?
Guessing that is from the read head on the encoder. Green or blue == good.

LED in Mach2 RA?
Just a quick question: What does the blue LED shining through the little hole at the bottom of the RA housing indicate?
Thanks - Shane

I have just joined this group, as I am researching buying my first PREMIUM mount.
Considering it will be a big expenditure for me, I wanted to make a good and informed decision.

Yes, I can see that cabling could definitely be a problem as I image all the time. I've seen a few mentions of striking the RAPAS but I can't envision my current rig reaching that far. The cables

Depending on your cable dressing, cables can snag on the RAPAS. So once aligned, I remove mine to reduce cable snag problems.

Re: Leave RAPAS installed or not?
If you do just make sure you don't have cabling dangling around that could snag.

Leave RAPAS installed or not?
What are your thoughts? I will 99% of the time just be transporting my ATS Portable Pier with my 1100 GTO to the backyard to set up. I will uninstall if I move it by vehicle. Do you leave yours

What I am referring to are design differences. With the Mach2 dependent on AE, it allows A-P to relax other engineering/design parameters and lower costs. This is not meant to denigrate the Mach2, it

Re: 1100 Mount Upgrade to Absolute Encoders
Sorry, can’t help with that. I mostly just watched the video to see what the encoders looked like. Hope someone else can help. Good luck!

Yes, I watched that video a while back and the installation procedure seems simple enough. I was also looking for input from others who have done the installation to see how

My chief financial officer (a.k.a. wife) has given me tentative approval to purchase a set of absolute encoders for my 1100 GTO mount, and I have added my name to the notification list when a set

Re: Ring Terminals (CABPP18R) size
Thanks gents for the information. You must remember that the electrons flow upside down in the South so we have to be especially careful when powering equipment ;)

Hi Terry & Bob
I don't think Astro-Physics uses the 8-gauge cable for their CABPP18R power cable extension. They are either 10 or 12 gauge. The ring dimensions that I cited above are what I measured
