Hi Ernie,
Happy for you that you are finally your Mach2 ... and there you change a little world.
I started with Astro-Physics in 2011 (Mach1 which I still have) ... and then I continued ... Thank you

Mount is "lost"
I am the 2nd owner of an AP900 that is permanently mounted in my observatory. When I got it I did a preliminary PA, 2-star calibration, and then a Quick Drift Meridian Delay. First session imaging

Wow a Mach 2.... How cool is that! Congratulation on the awesome and well deserved retirement gift Ernie and of course a person can’t say enough good things about George and the Astro-Physics

Re: Absolute Encoder Upgrade; do I need PEC anymore?
Yes, PEC is obsolete (not used) with the encoder option. The mount will operate in a normal manner as before, just without periodic error.

Re: Absolute Encoder Upgrade; do I need PEC anymore?
Glad to hear that. PEC's were not that fussy to maintain but it is good to hear it is now a non-worry. Thanks much.

Re: Absolute Encoder Upgrade; do I need PEC anymore?
Rick,
PEC will not matter when they’re installed. It will not exist anymore. Just turn the encoders on and forget about them. They just work. You won’t run it non-AE after that.

Absolute Encoder Upgrade; do I need PEC anymore?
Hello All,
I just purchased the encoder upgrade for my 1100. Is PEC obsolete now? And are there any best practices or things I should know vs running the mount non-AE? The mount is at Dark Sky New

Re: CP3 Power Connector
Bill,
You’ve got it right. Just make a pigtail with the 5.5 x 2.1 DC plug on one end and PP on the other. That’s what I’ve done.
They’re harder to find, but the “best” solution

Just noting that there is vertical banding visible in the image. (and I realize this is just a test image). Might be worth looking into when you want to take a "pretty picture". ;-)

The negative lead on the motor popped off. Its coming back to you guys for repair. Ships out today via UPS air. I knew I should have just removed the axis to do that part, I am betting some extra

Re: NGC5371 and surrounding galaxies
I also use 5 min subs at times, especially when satellites go streaking across the field. That way I don't get every exposure with streaks. Until 11pm here i get satellite streaks in long exposures ~
