These new backlit sensors are amazing! Of course I would want the 64MP version and couldn’t settle for the 2MP version. Nice to see these advances being made, I just need to save a few more coins to

This is the same camera that I'm adapting for my all-sky camera.
If you're curious about its NIR response, talk to Christopher Go, who has been posting some really good methane stacks of Jupiter

I had a couple of clear nights that allowed me to obtain OIII and SII data to compose a color image of the Veil. data is 3 hours each of H-a, OIII and SII data.

Yeah, he was talking about the new QHY5III462C.

Ahhh, I will have to watch that Michael Barber video again where he describes the evolution of the CMOS designs. I must have got some generations mixed up.

FWIW, the IMX533/571/455 series are evolutions within the Exmor R (fifth generation) family. Sixth generation refers to sensor designs within the Exmor RS family, the "S" denoting stacked silicon

Excellent. These 6th gen. back illuminated Sony chips are impressive. QHY and presumably ZWO will be releasing a camera with a mono IMX571 in a few months.

I’ve been able to use APPM with my QHY268C, SGP and ASTAP as solver. I do bin 2x2

This is just to update this thread...
The ASI2600MC color camera came in. I am doing a point mapping run in APPM. The camera is connected to Sequence Generator Pro and is using the on-board version

Re: Equipment for an observatory
Very True, but manageable: I operated my remote observatory for 10 years and had a CW. I had two models , one for winter and one for summer.
It is good with heavy clouds, it is tricky with low

Re: Equipment for an observatory
I find the CloudWatcher to NOT be reliable (at least for cloud detection). The problem is you have to setup various temperatures that imply when clouds are present - and those values change throughout
