Re: Strain wave gear PEC limitations
Forgot one thing: these strain wave gears are not made with stainless steel and the flexible cup gears will eventually rust out.

Re: Strain wave gear PEC limitations
With a strain wave gear you can correct the average periodic error to some extent. Problem is that one PE curve does not fit all the errors because the error is a variable from one tooth to the next.

Hello again
In SGP, once I have unparked the mount ,the Current telescope's position displayed from the Software does not match the reading of RA/DEC from the ASCOM driver, especially in Longitude?

The specs for the high end strain wave gears list the periodic error as being 90 arc seconds max. So it's possible to get that large an error, although most might be less. However, it's not the max

Jeff,
Out of curiosity, do you find the 1500x to be a bit overkill at dark sky sites for a night of imaging, or are you exhausting it down quite a bit? I do well with a pair of AGM 12V batteries in

Can you repeat the meridian flip with modeling turned off? Also, in which axis is this happening? Also, can you run a 5 second image after meridian flip to see if the stars are round with modeling on.

I now use a GoalZero Yeti 1500x at dark sky sites, and also at home. It’s about the size and weight of a car battery (I move it on a furniture dolly). This replaces 4 deep cycle

One thing to keep in mind: Linear power supplies usually have large capacitors on their output line (because they have to filter 60hz ripple). These can hold power for up to a second or more depending

Hi Phil60,
The latitude/longitude of the mount can only be set when the mount is initialized at power on.
So, setup the driver with your latitude/longitude in the driver and power cycle the mount.
