Why not try Denny's LX200 control pannel? As in ask Denny if it'll work
with the AP mounts. If it won't, ask him to add support for a future
release. Certainly Denny's software is ASCOM

I also have an earlier one #636 and like Gus it is almost impossible to read
the display in the daytime when solar observing. I tried using a box to
shield the light and only after my pupils dilated,

The display on all the keypads is a vacumn fluorescent type. We chose it
because of its extended temperature characteristics (rated to -40 degrees
F). It works very well in cold temperatures-

and then is sandable. I do not know if it would have been applicable to your
situation, but others might find it
