So, if I understand all of this correctly, I can make my board so
that I can use MaxIm serial commands for guiding an AP-GTO mount as
follows:

The firmware also supports 0.25x, 0.5x and 1x. These are referred to
as "Guide Rates". Referencing the Astro-Physics command set, these
rates can be set with the :RG0#, :RG1#, and :RG2# commands

As a point of reference, I use the AP DOVELM and Losmandy 17.25" dovetail to secure a 10" SCT to my 1200-GTO. The pointing accuracy is about +-2 arc minutes after adjusting the OTA

port commands but it uses hardware signalling. You need to
connect a cable from your autoguider to the mount. What
