Re: [ap-ug] Mach2 vibration & noise issue from the RA axis
The stepper motors will hit resonant points if the belt tension is set too high. If you send me an e-mail I will walk you thru setting the belt tension so it doesn't do that.

One thing to realize is that NMEA time is inherently inaccurate, exacerbated by USB serial delays. Most GPS chips also emit a PPS or 1PPS (1 pulse per second) electrical signal

Re: Question: How do I safety replace the CW shaft adapter
You just need more leverage than what an allen wrench can provide. Use a longer device, such as a long phillips head screw driver, instead.

Ok, cool. Is it a one-per revolution click? No laboring or other funny noises?
It may make sense to just do it over again.

Hi Bob,
It probably will not be a feature of APCC because to set the time on the computer APCC would have to be run "as administrator". That is something we probably would not want to do because then

Jeff,
The mount is 5 years old, has spent about 30 weeks in the dusty desert, and has never been re-greased. I seem to recall AP saying mounts should be re-greased every few years.

Thanks for that explanation. It made sense until you said "aim at an f ratio (i.e., F/D) equal to 5 times the size of a pixel in microns." Can you intuitively explain why? Failing that the

I would bet that there is still something stuck in one of the teeth of that gear. It could be a piece of dried grease.

So after maintenance, you developed an issue. Sounds to me like a problem with your maintenance. Why did you feel you needed to re grease the mount? What symptoms was it displaying?

Ticking noise after regreasing 1100
I just re-greased my 1100 and am getting a ticking noise in RA when going west. I took off the gear cover and the noise is coming from the middle (topmost) gear, and occurs once every revolution. I

I thought I'd post this after reading the recent ap-ug "Mach2 vibration & noise issue from the RA axis" thread, in case it would be useful to someone else.
