You map one Dec arc that the object is on. You already know that. Why is it confusing? You don't need an all sky model for that to work.

Using Windows Un-install without any embellishments worked for me. The new version installed cleanly and all my previous parameters / data was there, i.e. models, PEM, Site.

Dec arc tracking is an independent model, not relying on the all-sky model. neither relies on the other to work.

The absolute encoders basically do several things that have nothing to do with what software runs the mount. The encoders are part of a feedback loop that controls the exact position and tracking

You do not need APCC in order to have your encoders function. To do modeling of the sky and other advanced things, you do. But the encoders will work just fine without it.
