The 16803 cameras have 9 micron pixels, so no need to bin further. They are quite efficient and can be cooled to much lower temps that any of the CMOS. I doubt that the CMOS cameras have significantly

The main issue for me is that it is impossible to compete with a 10" astrograph at $4k where users cannot discern the difference. A scope with 66% obstruction will have meaningful contrast reduction.

The Tak is definitely a good instrument. I have seen results from a 300mm version and the images were sharp across the field of a 9 micron chip.
We now have a number of inexpensive 10" wannabe
