That's not a binding noise.
Send me your e-mail address to chris1011@... and I can help you more easily off-line.

Re: Mach2 First time setup - attaching GTOPC to Tripier
No, don't do that. You should not need to tighten those clutches with an Allen key. If you push on the scope and it doesn't move, they are tight enough.

Re: Visual use without a hand controller
You should be able to fully control the mount via Sky Safari. No keypad needed.

Re: Mach2 First time setup - attaching GTOPC to Tripier
One other thing I noticed is I hear a slight binding noise when rotating in one axis. I took a video to see if this is normal. Might have to turn the volume up.

With the Mach2 you never need to do that. The encoders will always keep track of where the axes are. When APCC initializes the mount it will ask the encoders for the axes positions and will display

Visual use without a hand controller
I have a few questions as a first time AP mount user.
1. If I don't have the hand controller, and don't have the mount connected to a computer. Can I set it up, and power it on. Polar align with

When I set it up for the first time, I moved the clutches so that the tick marks aligned on each axis.

I didn't get the keypad, so I used APCC to move it to home under the park tab.

How did you put it in the home position? manually with the clutches, or with keypad or with APCC goto?

Re: Mach2 First time setup - attaching GTOPC to Tripier
You might want to send the mount home and recal. The encoders should bring the mount to the Park3 position and the diagram should also show the mount there.

Possibly somewhere during your last session one of your programs send a recal to a bogus position.
If that wasn't the case, then can you remember when you initialized, what did you tell the mount

Not to dismiss PEMPro, but is it really "needed" for AP mounts like my older Mac1 CP3, which I understood are/were factory calibrated for
