Re: OT Arc welding and electronics
Not sure about computers but the AP electronics are all ruggedized and tested for ESD exposure. They won't be affected.

Re: Aperture vs Focal Ratio to determine exposure time
Ray,

I think the question is: What does changing the f-ratio actually mean in that table? How are the different f-ratios

Re: AP Keypad, sell it or not?
Rolando,
A simple keypad or joystick to manually jog the mount would be a popular accessory, especially if made by AP. Any thoughts about making one?
Thanks,
Don

Re: AP Keypad, sell it or not?
The keypad does tell you where the meridian is (it's on the Main menu). You enter that value in the RA entry and enter zero in the DEC entry and press GoTo.

Re: 1100GTO Encoders
What AP has too much class to tell you (but I don't)is that the iOptron and 10Micron mounts use a far-East absolute rotaryencoder that is significantly lower resolution than AP's encoders and that

To answer your question “what could be easier”, if we were just talking about plugging in the keypad, then nothing would be easier. In my case, the CP4 controller was somewhat difficult to get

Re: AP Keypad, sell it or not?
When you initialize the mount with ASCOM driver, you can then hot plug the keypad in and it will come right up by itself in the Main Menu and not demand anything from you. How could it be any easier?

Re: AP Keypad, sell it or not?
Diego
I see little need for a keypad in a permanent installation.
HOWEVER, for a mobile setup, you may find the KP easier to use for initial star alignment than a PC or tablet/phone app.

I was out in the field using my AP1100 this past weekend.
I was imaging and had initialized the mount with the ASCOM driver. On the particular computer I was using, I didn’t have any planetarium

You can control your mount just like your keypad with a smartphone and SkySafari or Luminos.
