I noticed my 3-year old AP1600 had a noise issue a few months ago. It happened in both RA and Dec but in random fashion.
Consulting with George@AP, I got the advice and conducted the slew

New AP1600 slew noise
We have finally had some clear skies downunder to use my new AP1600 delivered a few months ago. I have noticed some slews are very noisy, particularly in the RA, but also Dec gearboxes. Noise is high

We'll probably consider that in the future. Could you instead use the free ASTAP program? It's more than accurate enough for APPM.

That’s correct. The ReST API is simply between the driver and APCC. It doesn’t care how APCC connects to the mount.

In the vein of having fun with old equipment, here is a mix of old and new. My "old" AP 178 pre-ED Starfire on an 1100 mount. A very effective combination and the "old" 178 F9 still packs a young

It was an all-sky model, 10 degree Dec spacing, 10 degrees RA spacing, 4.5 hours either side of the meridian.
It's important to have no mirror shift or flex in the scope - my 17" has an ultra-light
