I’m a new owner of a used AP 1200 GTO mount but I will do my best to tell you my experience.
So park 3 is where you start. Weights on an off in that position with clutches tight. In my case tight

Re: More basic mount questions
I-Optrons don't have clutches, they only have gear release.
The 1600 has clutches which allow basic balancing. For fine balance you can use the gear release knob, but this should be done only in Park3

You can use a Serial -> USB adapter on the CP3. The brand you want to buy is, i think, Tripp-Lite KeySpan.

Chris,
According to the APCC requirements, you only need the V chip. If the custom tracking rates are important, the V1 chip. BTW, we can provide a loaner for you while yours is in for

Re: What does GTO stand for in A-P mounts (i.e. A-P1100GTO)
I’ve been enjoying all your submissions of what GTO stands for. The truth is, it’s a shortening of GoTo, and a nod to some very cool cars. We have a bunch of car geeks among the Astro-Folk and

Re: Seeking CP3 Control Box with V2 Chip
My understanding is that using any CP3 with APCC standard or pro, a V2 chip is required, regardless of mount model.

Re: Seeking CP3 Control Box with V2 Chip
Hmmm... I though the V2 chip was needed for APCCPro Modeling. Maybe I'm wrong, and if thats the case I guess any of the "V" chips would work.

Chris,
I could send you mine as a loaner. I don't want to sell it, although I almost never use it.

Re: Seeking CP3 Control Box with V2 Chip
For your 900 GTO mount the V2 chip is not required. You could do with the V chip. Even the V1 is not needed either. Both the V1 & V2 are for encoder mounts. Your 900 GTO is not capable of having

Re: Maintenance for a 5 year old AP mount
I would not do anything at first. Set it up and run it to see how it operates. Find out if it slews and tracks properly.
After that you might re-grease the gears and in the process adjust the worm
