Re: Problem with first startup of Mach2 -- obstruction / grinding sound
Not to worry. The 1100 mount is being assembled in normal fashion by the 1100 crew.

hello All,
With the help of our mount owner we found the problem. He was able to locate the obstruction on the gear teeth by removing the grease cover on the side of the mount that exposes the worm

Re: Mach1GTO RA axis sticking
After more than a decade of use, not much grease left on the rotating bearings in both Dec and RA! Put on a thin film of AeroShell 33. Good to get that tended to.
Now for the worm and wheel. Again,

I have had excellent results with doing two and three line APPM map runs which bracket the declination of the target for the night.
There was a discussion on this last summer -

How to Re-grease a Mach1 with Auto-Adjust Motor Boxes?
Hi All.
I received the Re-grease Kit for my GTO Mach1 today. I read through the instructions twice, but the steps are still not clear. The document jumps around quite a bit and covers so many

What I’m going to try tonight if I don’t hear anything is the following. My target’s declination is about +13 degrees. I plan to densely map points from +10 to +20 Dec all across the sky.

I'm in the same boat. I don't have a permanent setup so I haven't used APPM as I had hoped. But being able to build a model around a given object or point the in sky would be very useful to me if it

Re: Mach1GTO RA axis sticking
Yes, you can grease with Aeroshell 33, but make sure it does not contain sulfur. Sulfur corrodes bronze and brass gears.
The top of the mount comes off and you can then grease all parts of the clutch

Thanks for the info. My concern is what would happen outside the modeled area. As someone who has done models myself in a different area, I just want to make sure there are not extrapolation errors

There have been posts in the post showing that building a model along the declinaton of the single object works well. See lengthy thread at https://ap-gto.groups.io/g/main/topic/77675005

There are no nylon clutch plugs in the Mach1. There is nothing to stick. However, the grease in the top rotating bearing may be drying out and could use some new grease. It sounds like your Mach1 is

Call Astro-Physics and ask for the grease kit. It comes with two types of grease. One for the gear box and one for the worm and worm wheel. It also comes with instructions. The grease is great,
