Re: Mach2 power consumption

Thanks Roland.
the part in your previous post about "stalls and/or resonance situations" got me thinking that I should run the mount at 24 volts instead of the 13.6 volts that I have the power supply

Why did you choose Polaris to collimate your scope? There are hundreds of other stars you could use instead.

Re: pointing Polaris
A go to is not the same as an alt/az pointing that you would use to line up a polar scope in the center of the RA axis on a mount. In a go to the Declination of Polaris is 89 degrees 20 minutes, so

pointing Polaris
I was trying to point at Polaris with my Mach1 to collimate my scope. I put the coordinates in SGP and the mount did crazy stuff...counterweight up, and got out of sync. How do you do that?

No need for the inverter unless you want to run the mount at 24 volts. Using an inverter wastes power, better to run at 12 volts directly. The mount is most efficient at 12 volts. Without the keypad

Ok, now that raises a question for me.
While we do have 120V power at the observatory, it is unreliable [rural location, the utility sometimes shuts it off to prevent brush fires, a club member may

Re: Create a PEM curve with a camera?
Hi . Does this mean that if I use an stl11000 that gives 3.6" that I should not bother?

Updating AP Ascom driver
Hi There,
Can someone please give me instructions on how to update the AP ASCOM driver? If I update the driver, the configurations are kept? I heard someone saying something about a language setting

How come you are not using the 24 volt power supply that comes with the mount? It is much more efficient than your Pyramid.

Yes, that is correct. The mount powers both microsteppers with full current at all times. The Dec motor must be powered even when it is not turning in order to maintain an exact microstep positions.

Thanks but I haven't found it yet. ;-) I see the photo caption on page 2 that started me down this path but I haven't found the recommendation.
