Hi Bill,
If you have a CP3 it's best that you stay with 1.8.0.9 until the next release. In 1.8.1.x a change was made to make the sign of the tracking rates consistent with what external programs

I totally agree with Bill Long and Roland. For many years I used the AP 180 F/7 EDF on my 1200 mount. By the time I added all of the accessories for imaging, including guidescope, I found the 1200

You can tighten that nut without causing any problems. The bearings will take up to 15 inch-lb of torque. Heavy vibration during shipping might loosen the nut. Put a dab of RTV at the periphery of the

Hi guys,
I did what Rolando posted in the instructions below. I could actually turn the nut by 1/4 turn! I didn't have a spanner wrench and so I made a fixture to fit into the two holes. I first

Roland,
I am the OP (I am assuming it stands for Original Poster).
This is very encouraging as I am very much interested in the portability of the Mach2 GTO and want an option to be able to image it

If you have very low dec backlash and/or absolute encoders, lowpass2 is the preferred algorithm

Pretty cool that GA now does that as well. I should probably run that sometime... 😉

Re: Mach2 and PHD2 Guiding recommendations
I should have clarified also that my 1100 does not have AE. Also, it did guide better after I clicked for it to change to Lowpass2!
Thanks,

Re: Mach2 and PHD2 Guiding recommendations
That is what I use as well.
If you use the PHD2 New Profile Wizard, they added a checkbox for high precision encoders. If you check that, it will change to Lowpass2.

Re: Mach2 and PHD2 Guiding recommendations
Charles, the same thing happened with my Mach1GTO CP4 a couple of weeks ago. The GA recommended Lowpass 2, so I gave it a shot.
It hadn't done that before, but it gave me the best guiding I've ever

Also, if you run the guiding assistant for a while (10 minutes+) it will recommended a different algorithm if it thinks a different one might be more appropriate than the current selection.

Try them, see which one works best for you. I have not had skies good enough for much imaging, and when it is clear I am usually testing other functions (modeling, unguided imaging etc).

Excellent, it sounds simple enough. I use PHD2 now so the guide scope is set up.
I was also wondering about Mount Guide Algorithms for both RA and declination. Last summer you were comparing
