Re: Erratic parking of the mount
Hi Bruce,
Just saw this and agree that it’s probably your re-aligning or recal when you are in different parts of the sky. I noticed that even when I use APCC to initiate. When I would start

Great- good to understand what is probably causing this and that a solution is forthcoming.
Thank you

Re: Erratic parking of the mount
All sky positions are calculated from the previous object that you did a Recal on. That includes park positions. If the last object that you Recal on is off by 1 degree when you pressed Recal, then

Hi Ray
Sorry- what I meant by manual was re-aligning using SkySafari and not un-clutch it. Thanks for the follow-up and the other possible reasons for this. I just wanted to confirm that I was not

Re: Erratic parking of the mount
Hi Bruce,
If you mean that you manually un-clutch and center a target, then yes, that can cause the park position to be offset a little. This is nothing to worry about though. It doesn't mean there

Re: Erratic parking of the mount
Hi Ray
Almost 100% no slippage. Everything tight and well balanced before beginning a session.
I do manually realign to center some objects at times but that is it. Could that be the cause?

Re: Erratic parking of the mount
Hi Bruce,
A couple things come to mind:
1. Are you sure the clutches are not slipping?
2. Were any RECALs performed, either manually or via plate solves? They can slightly change the effective

Erratic parking of the mount
In my permanent setup, I use SkySafari 6 Pro as my planetarium program to slew my AP1100 with no issues (connected to the GTOCP4 via RS232). It parks and unparks from position 4 with no issues. I

Re: Ascom problem
Check your computer’s Device Manager for the COM Port. Be sure that all secondary programs are connecting to the V2 driver (AstroPhysics GTO V2 Mount).

Re: Ascom problem
Hi Suresh,
It sounds like the ASCOM driver is just set to the wrong com port.
Try setting the driver to com1 and see if it connects, if not set to com2 etc. My mount ended up being on

Make sure none of your applications is running "as administrator". This will start another separate instance of the ASCOM driver which won't be able to connect if the first instance is already

Re: APPM Remove Scope Question
I do this all the time. If you place the scope back in about the same position the model will work well from night to night.

Re: APPM and CCDSOFT
Bryan,
There are no good/bad values per se. All of the terms are in arc-seconds. What is more important is how well pointing terms as a whole model the telescope setup and how consistent pointing is.

That is very strange ... AP ASCOM driver allows multiple programs to talk to it. I have PHD2, Cartes du Ciel and APT talking to the AP ASCOM driver. Are you sure you have set APT to talk to AP

Re: APPM Remove Scope Question
I have done a number of such changes back and forth with different tube assemblies even. The pointing does not seem to be affected. Not to any degree that i can tell.

APPM Remove Scope Question
I have a permanent pier and scope setup using a AP1100 Mount and AP130mm scope. My question is, if I remove my scope from the rings and then replace it again will my pointing model still be accurate?

I use APT. I usually first launch Cartes du Ciel and "Connect Telescope" from that. That connects to the A-P ASCOM driver (or whichever ASCOM mount driver I happen to be using that
