If you want a very speedy initial polar alignment, why not just use the Right angle polar alignment scope? That should be faster and more accurate than any multi-point alignment. The

That's interesting Joe. When I setup my Win10 laptop (indoor tests) the com port assigned was COM1. And it workd perfectly the first time. Ports 4-18 were "in use".

I had a similar problem with APCC and thus the APdriver. I was using an FTDI chip based Startech USB-Serial adapter cable. TheFTDI setup utility told me that COM1 to COM3 are dedicated PC

I am using genuine FTDI USB serial adapters.

My USB-to-Serial adapter (FTDI chip) connects to a 12VDC powered USB hub without issues. Generally speaking, I see no reason an USB-to-Serial adapter should not work with USB hubs. Is your USB hub

Some seemingly good quality USB hubs can have trouble with some USB devices.
I would suggest trying a different USB hub as part of your troubleshooting.
