Re: Powered USB Hub
You can run longer power wires if you increase the voltage from 12V to 13.5 or higher (15 - 18 volts.)

Re: Powered USB Hub
I have ordered a small step-down transformer to get 5vDC.
Next question:
I already have 12vDC running out to the mount from a Pyramid power supply. The voltage runs on 14 ft. of speaker wire. This

Dust in Apus
This pic was taken at the Astronomical Society of NSW star party in Australia. It shows a dusty nebula (Sarah's Nebula) in Apus near ic4633. It's pretty faintand I really had to be very aggressive

Re: How do I save the factory PEMPRO curve?
Thanks. I found it when I was creating the new curve.
I ran 12 cycles at 0.51 arc-sec/pixel using a well elevated star in Coma Berenices. The PE value is essentially identical to factory (2.55

Re: New to Mach 1 - very excited
Richard,
I got my Mach1 about three years ago which is also used with a C-11. I now never worry about the mount which was always an issue before the Mach1. I suggest that you get a RAPAS. Polar

New to Mach 1 - very excited
I have just purchased a new Mach 1 with a C11 Edge and am looking forward to learning all I can from this forum. The mount will also work well with all of my other OTAs and I hope to try them all for

Re: Powered USB Hub
It isn't the best practice just because any fault on the ac line inside the conduit may involve the control cables. You could wind up with a low level fault that the breaker couldn't see to clear

What input voltage does your powered USB hub accept? 5V or 12V? If it accepts 12V, then you could tap off existing 12VDC line and connect to your powered USB hub. If it accepts only 5V, then you will

Can the AC line for a wall outlet near the mount be run in the same conduit that I use for DC and other control cables?

Power the hub with the AC adapter. The PC doesn't supply enough current to operate the devices connected to the hub especially over that distance.

Don't power it by the incoming usb cable. You bought a powered usb hub so you wouldn't have to do that.

Powered USB Hub
I just bought a powered usb hub for my Mach 1 mount. The run to the PC in my observatory is about 16 ft. I don't currently have AC at the mount but I could. Should the hub be powered by the AC
