Can't remove counterweight shaft
Don
The material is only .020" thick. I made two concentric circles and used a utility knife to cut it.

Re: Can't remove counterweight shaft
Great Tony. Sounds like this is a viable solution. I think I will look for one of those boards as well. How did you cut the hole and the outside diameter? Teflon is pretty tough stuff.

AP1200 problem
I am new to my AP1200, having had it for only a few weeks. When I powered it up this evening, the hand controller dispayed "Astro-Physics Ver 4.12" and froze. It does not go on to the next menu.

Stainless steel is a great metal but its down side is its tendency to gall in moving metal to metal part. All things considered, I agree with you the Teflon washer is the cheapest, least

Re: Can't remove counterweight shaft
All things considered, lubrication is the solution.
I always apply Dupont 240AC grease to ALL threaded parts in ALL my gear as soon as I receive it, new or used. 240AC does not migrate or outgas.

Hi Don,
I see your point. However, the Teflon washer would get depressed at ALL points, eventually. As the RA axle turns during operation, the washer is depressed, at various times and positions,

I suspect using Teflon tape on the threads will only remove a "possible" thread binding. This may occur if a heavily loaded shaft remains in one orientation (straight down, as in

Ray,
I would just like to say a big thanks for all your efforts. As a
software developer I know just how much effort and pain goes into
something like this. It is very much appreciated.
