I sent a message to the seller explaining the error of his ways. Even if it's a 155EDIF, 2.7 inch focuser, it's worth around $10,000.
I sold mine back in 2006 for $9000. Perhaps a family member is selling it for or after a family member?

In addition to the unnecessarily, and possibly counterproductively, low price, it seems a bit odd that the ad contains so little – one poor photo, one scanty line of description, no history. Sellers of high-end scopes usually know what potential buyers are interested in and what features are important. You have to wonder about the provenance of this scope.

Maybe the eventual buyer is on this forum and will give us the story.

I’ve been watching. They aren’t coming up as often, and go very quickly. There have been multiple want ads posted, sometimes for weeks. It seems there is more demand than supply for a lighter mount with AP quality and features. I’ll keep looking. No immediate rush, since my class is about to wrap up for the year, and I have the 900 for personal use in my observatory.

Even if it has the 2.7” focuser that mine came with ~25y ago (and that I still have, hoping for a Mach2 mount), $5000 seems like a very very good price (for the buyer!). I don’t know in what world a pristine StarFire 155EDF should command no more than 70% of the price of a new FSQ 106, but I didn’t think it was this one!

I live on the north side of Colorado Springs. It’s a relatively short drive to anywhere in Denver. I’m waiting for the seller to answer some questions. If I don’t buy it, I can make time to pick it up and ship it to whomever does.
