I have a Windows virtual machine that I used in the past to resolve this exact issue. Retrying the 5.30.10 driver on the VM works perfectly, so I cannot reproduce the problem.

That this issue suddenly started happening makes this even more puzzling. This feels like a Windows update issue.

Good morning Tom,

I thank you for your support. Funny enough, a friend of mine told me exactly (pretty much) the same, i.e. "you shouldn't change the commas etc manually...".

I will give a try tonight and see the results. I am running out of options :)

One should not blindly change commas to decimal points in windows.
The proper way to do this is to choose a region in the windows control panel and then do not mess with changing any of the numeric formats. Use the defaults. You will find if you change the region to USA it will work fine. Same as if you change it to Armenia for example.
If the standard region does not work, then the software itself is not managjng globalization properly. For example in .NET, some mathematical transformations require a culture invariant option to be specified, especially when dealing with double precision numbers.
So if things do not  work with a default region and all the number formats are at the default region then it's a software fault. Otherwise not, it's a region configuration issue.

Peter,

It occurred last night on 10/18.
That's still too broad of a time range for such a generic problem. Can you narrow it down to a 10-minute window?

If you can't, wait for the next evening you see it happening and note the time.

Hi Aygen,

After a few attemps (uninstalled from A to Z APCC, AP driver, etc.), I am still facing this irritating error
message while using the driver in conjunction with APCC. My conclusion is that the problem is not from the
driver itself but rather from the APCC !
I'm sorry, but that is an incorrect conclusion. The problem is that the driver is sending coordinates with a comma as the decimal point, which you can see in APCC's logs. The command protocol expects decimal values that use a "." for the decimal point, so when APCC's command validator sees a comma it rejects the command.

You don't see the error with just the AP V2 ASCOM driver because the mount's firmware silently truncates the decimal portion of the coordinate after the comma. This is probably okay for declination, but 1 second of RA is up to 15 arc-seconds. So, if you try syncing to an RA coordinate with a .9 decimal point in the arc-seconds field, the mount will ignore the .9, and the sync will be incorrect by 15 * 0.9 = 13.5 arc-seconds, multiplied by the cosine of declination.

Best regards,

-Ray

@ Ray : is there a way to install a former version ? I really want to find a solution to this problem - otherwise I
can forget APCC !

Thank you.

Thank you Linwood for your suggestion. However, since I made sure to remove all data / files  whine uninstalling APCC, I only have the log files of past few days.

I got my last target on October 10th - everything was then perfectly working.

If you know the date it last worked for sure, in C:\ProgramData\Astro-Physics\APCC\Logs are log files and at the very top of the log is the version number.  I think it may auto-purge at some point but it keeps a fair period of time.

What might be interesting is if you could find in the log files the same operation that worked then, and fails now, and see if it shows differences.  But at the least, you can get the version number you were using.

There are 100MB of log files in that zip archive spanning the past week. Since you mentioned that it's episodic, could you suggest a specific date/time when this issue occurred?

Re: VPort2 / Fault / Sync Target: Valid Alt/Az, RA/Dec, HA/Dec has not been received!"

Erkaslan Aygen

Bingo !!!! Found something very, very interesting.

  1. I deactivated the virtual port in APCC so that I could use the AP Driver as a stand-alone "product" by selecting the correct port used to connect the mount
  2. I connected all my gear in Voyager and started a short sequence, etc.
  3. Result = everything is working perfectly without the error message
Conclusion : I am getting the error message when using the AP Driver in conjunction with APCC ! When used "as a stand-alone driver", no issue.

On one hand I am happy to make it works, on the other, not really since I like APCC and ans want to have it back !

Good evening all,

So, I have installed the 5.20... version and yet the problem persists ! This time, I am getting the below error (V3 Port instead of the V2 Port...). All of this just doesn't make sense !

APCC is working perfectly. The only problem is that the mount is not getting the sync command when centering an object. Really frustrating problem. I dont know what to do anymore. I am lost !

Re: 1200 return to Park 5 with CWs up

I used APCC to park the mount, but will try setting everything to standard time. I occasionally use the hand controller to point the scope at terrestrial objects to focus a scope.

Re: Is my LT2APM or 119FSA Miss-Drilled?

Robert

The inner, triangle hole pattern on top of the LT2APM does not align with the Losmandy tripod legs.  It's best to mount the 119FSA to the LT2APM first by aligning the "N" to one of the side mounting holes on the LT2APM.  Only one of the 3 orientations will allow the 4 top mounting holes to line up.

I also had pointing issues last night after not imaging for a few weeks due to the weather.  I use a computer for observatory only and do not use my hand controller.  I thought I remembered a Win update recently and did a Restore on my computer to 9/30/2021 and pointing returned to normal.

Worked for me but YMMV

Good morning Jim,

Yes, I had to improve to SP1 since my mount was having issue while using the automation software. Ever since, everything was working properly.

By the way, I did recheck windows's update thoroughly. The last one occurs on August 10 ("quality update). So, I don't think this is something related with W10 update :(.

As mentioned, I am on the verge of using a former version of AP driver - let's see.

I will keep you posted.

Aygen

Hi Aygen,

Have you upgraded Ascom to 6.5SP1

There’s an issue with the latest voyager software if you haven’t upgraded, maybe your problem

Cheers

Jim

Ray,

Below is the message that I get when I use a period as a decimal point. As soon as I put the setting back to normal, then the message vanishes and I can again open Voyager.
