There is a flip mount button on the main screen.

Aloha All,

The last couple nights out with the Mach 2 has been going very nicely.  I have both the laptop (with APCC Pro) and the keypad (set to EXT) out with me.
Seems like I always end up choosing an object that's about 1 or 2 hours East of the Meridian.  In the past, I manually flip the mount early (via the keypad),
and then just let everything track West thru the meridian (without having to worry about the meridian/mount flip later).  I usually just stick to one target and
don't do any other subsequent GoTos...  I didn't flip it last night (as I was trying out NINA and plate solving for the first time and forgot the flip [plus I'm using a
C8 Edge at F/7 and didn't want to refocus]).

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to force an early mount flip in APCC??  The only way that I know how to do this would be to manually move the meridian East
one or two hours (using a positive value [I think]).  That's probably one way to do it,..   But, was curious if there was another way flip it early?  I haven't done the filp
in apcc, yet, so was just wanting to check first.  No big deal either way and thanks for all your help!!

Their website says the device has ASCOM drivers so I assume it does.

It does have an ASCOM driver, reads temperature, pressure and humidity. Not sure if that qualifies? I’ll check with Primaluce.

Thank you all for your advise, it is really appreciated.
I will try to download the new driver from FTDI and see if that sorts the problem out.
Once again thank you for taking the time to reply.

Ray, any chance we could add the ECCO 2 as environmental sensor for modeling? The MgBoxV2 I have is unreliable.

Vince, thanks for your reply as I just bought a new one my self after some unhealthy stretch from a footfall of my granddaughter on the cord.  This is a conundrum as the computer end and the scope end have  function as told in the Device Manager and albeit limited by your old cord performance on the scope end.   I downloaded and installed the newest FTDI driver from FTDI as I did not trust automatic updates.  I can’t recall what made me do that but I was reading the whole text on the FTDI website.   I am no COM expert so I posted my reply not to be captain obvious but to continue the discussion.  The problem solving skilz of this forum are phenomenol.  Tom

The system is telling me that it is functioning correctly but it will not connect to the mount.
If I put the old one back on I can connect to the mount no problem but this one is faulty after many year of service. It doesn't always sent the signals to the mount.
Thanks for your help.

Drivers.  It's always been the drivers for me. I had trouble with the brand new adapter from AP.  Even though the PC said it was ready for use....it wasn't.  Snooping around on device manager showed a bum driver.  So, I deleted the driver and went directly to the FDTI site and downloaded the latest one from there.

Boom!

Instant connection, to com port 3.

The universe is once again whole.....for me anyway.

2. FTDI Serial-to-USB chips all have an electronic serial number that the PC driver can read. This is how FTDI adapters always get the right COM port number assignment, regardless of what USB port they are plugged in to. FTDI is the only Serial-to-USB chip maker that I am aware of that does this. However it is most likely that unless you manually overrode that COM port assignment in Device Manager, your new adapter has most certainly been assigned a different COM port number than your old adapter.

I hope this helps.

Re: Problem with Mach2 #Mach2GTO #APCC #Absolute_Encoders

Bill Long

Yeah the motor cables are the only thing connecting the encoders to the control box as well. That's why I suspected that connection. Especially after you said the LED was blue. On the 1100 there's an extra box things connect through, which the design of the Mach 2 eliminates the need for.

In hindsight, I should have worked on the motor cable issue more first.  I spent a lot of time trying different USB setups because it was showing a communications problem, but since the keypad functionality was also affected, I should have realized it wasn’t a computer-to-mount problem earlier than I did.  Anyway, I just hope it might allow other folks to avoid the wasted time I spent.  Make sure your motor cables are connected snugly every time!

I was playing some more with counterweight up positions, and it struck me that just as serious aerobatic aircraft have to have special systems (pumps, etc.) for sustained inverted flight, I guess I have to make sure my telescope and gear are capable of functioning when inverted.  Maybe we should call this aerobatic astronomy.

Karen,

Earlier in the month, I asked if there was a waiting list for the quick release gearboxes for the AP1600 as my mount did not come with them and I wanted to convert to the new style when available.  Either George or Rolando said that the 1600s were in production and that extra quick release gearbox housings would be produced at that time.  If that is the case, how do I go about getting on a waiting list to get a pair for my mount?

Yours truly,

Jack

Hello Brian,

In order to be clear for all of our members, I’m going to correct your statement.  You have not purchased a 1600 mount (yet) from OPT, because OPT does not have one to sell you, and neither do they have one on order with us.  We highly discourage their practice of taking full-price deposits for products they don’t have on order.  I am truly sorry that they persist.

Our current 1600 mount run is in production now with the first mounts anticipated to ship near the end of this year.  When we begin notifications for this mount run, OPT – along with all of our dealers and customers on our notification list, in order of when they signed up – will have an opportunity to place an order and submit a 50% deposit.  Until then, we have not accepted nor will not accept any money or orders on the 1600 mounts.  We appreciate your patience and I hope this timeline fits with your plan.
