Hi Todd,
In the future, if there ever does become a conflict with other equipment, with those low port numbers that apcc isAPCC allocates virtual ports at runtime, not at system boot. Devices like a USB to Serial converters usually allocate their virtual COM port at system startup, well before APCC runs. APCC will also never use an existing (true) serial port as a virtual port. When you run APCC, if it finds a virtual port in use that was previously configured for APCC to use, APCC will choose a different virtual port and reconfigure the driver to use that port. I’m somewhat new to this forum (a lurker) but may be able to help. I just upgraded
the software for my GTOCP5 and checked all communication functionality (serial, ethernet, wifi)
both with the laptop (Windows 10) and through APCC-pro. Here’s what worked for me for the wifi.
1. Power up laptop and GTOCP5
2. On my laptop, double click on the wireless icon.
This brings up the available networks. I find one network GTOCP5_NET_xx (xx is a number)
3. I then select the GTOCP5_NET_xx I click “connect” which connects to the GTOCP5_NET_xx network
with the statement “No Internet, secured”
NB: I do not find the mount until I perform the 3rd step.
4. I can then run the application FindMounts_VFM-01-03 (comes with the new software from the AP site).
The application returns the above network and the IP address for GTOCP5 via wireless (note that the
wireless IP address is different than the ethernet IP address).
5. Run APCC-pro, type in the above wireless IP address, connect the mount and I’m off to the races.

Goofy foot means your right foot is up front (ie towards the nose of the board). Your left foot is in the back (towards the tail). With a little more of your weight placed on the back foot (at least on a short board, not sure about that when using a long board) Regular footed means just the opposite. Your left foot is forward (closest to the nose of the board). That is how I used to surf (and now snowboard). Unfortunately, I'm in my 60s also, and surfing seems to be more of a challenge as I can't get up quick enough (plus there's no waves here in Nevada)! I don't think it really matters much which stance you use just as long as you feel comfortable in your stance. Just don't drop in on the locals (when they're already on the wave), otherwise you might get the 'stink eye' !! :) In either case I hope you got some good waves and I'm sure you found out surfing is a great workout!! The password in the welcome letter is only to access the download website to access the new version of GTOCP4, GTOCP5 and keypad when they are released. It is not used for connection to your GTOCP5.

Ray, In the future, if there ever does become a conflict with other equipment, with those low port numbers that apcc is currently using, then what would the best practice be to assign higher number virtual ports that would be less likely to conflict? I guess that I’d like to know a path to follow if this happens, and it is on a perfect night at midnight, which is when Murphy usually visits my observatory. It could save a wasted night. Only so many each year as you well know...lol

It is safe to say that SkySafari 6 Pro and Plus work properly with the Mach2 and the CP5 (given my setup) but certain conditions can create WiFi drop outs. However, I found no fault with the CP5 WiFi. That was what I tried to explain with that very long winded-post. Also, you CANNOT run the Mach2 with just SkySafari. The mount needs first needs to be initialized (or started, woken up, unparked) via APCC or the keypad. And you CANNOT park the Mach2 with SkySafari. But once the mount is up and running, SkySafari works nicely. I used it last night at my remote dark-sky and had no WiFi issues or dropouts at all. I keep just one Wifi connection (my phone) to the mount. I turn off my laptop Wifi so can't connect and interfere. My previous problems popped up when my iPhone's lock-screen kicked in, which disconnects it from the mount. If another device (like a laptop) is also talking to the mount, SkySafari would not let my iPhone back in. I've concluded that this is most likely a SkySafari issue, and not a CP5 issue. I did see some talk about USB cables interfering with the WiFi, but I could not replicate that issue. During my imaging session last night, two USB cables ran guide and imaging cameras. The cables were quite close the the WiFi antenna. I had absolutely no WiFi communication issues for my 4-hour session. Ernie
