One of my older AP 1200 go to mounts has a problem. The deck drive does not work properly. When I use the keypad to move the mount north or south there is just a jerky movement or, the telescope starts going around in a circle nonstop. This happened to a previous mount of mine years ago and George at AP was able to fix/replace it. I cannot recall which screws/bolts to remove to remove the drive. I will also have to get a work order number as well. Here is a pic. Thanks for any help.
The mount is at my farm and I will only be here until Monday so I need to get the drive off so I can ship it when I get back home.

Perhaps Bill is a little tired of you bagging on the company he works for? Perhaps its a bit old listening to you bicker about things that arent even real? This is a forum to talk about A-P products, not a forum for you to continue on your personal crusade against Microsoft.

Keep in mind, there are dozens and dozens of Microsoft Employees on this forum (or kids, failures, and morons as you call us) so I would probably advise you to see the bigger picture and refrain from bashing other companies. Talk about AP products and leave MS and other companies and products out of your rifle sights.

Hi Curtis,

Perhaps Bill felt I was bit unkind to MS, with my choice of words,  but Microsoft’s semi-annual major updates are scheduled in the Fall and Spring of every year, and they “had  been” neither  optional,  nor avoidable for long.

Since you bought your PC in Aug. 2019 ... then you would have been updated, perhaps by Christmas from your initial factory installed Build Version #1903, that Fall - with Update Build “Version”  #1909 (standing for Year 2019 and month 09). After that, the most recent wave was the Spring 2020, Build #2004 (year 2020, month, 04,  April).

Until now, our PC’s were just updated, without our choice,  on Microsoft’s individual customer schedule. However, with build Version #2004, it appears that we can actually choose whether to accept the updates and associated risks. You will see a new blue link line in your Win-10 SETTINGS-Updates & Security, and have to actually click on it to trigger the Build’s download & install procedure. There are always surprises in each version update and some are good, while others break perfectly working drivers or programs.

If you wish to find out which Build number your PC is running under, click on SETTINGS->SYSTEM ... and scroll down the left side panel to “ABOUT”. Clicking on that you will see the full description, specifically the section “Windows Specifications”.
It will also show you the date YOUR own PC was updated with your current version number.

But the next regular update wave is already on the doorstep, likely late this month (for version #2009 ?).

How recent is Build-2004?  I bought this computer in Aug 2019.  The message I saw didn't have the McAfee name or logo on it, unlike warnings I've had about firmware downloads.

Maybe some gap analysis of the logs can help to see why the old driver is clean and the new one has issues.

Re: AP Driver moves mount too fast

Gert,

Please use the AP V2 log zipper instead of zipping individual logs. I need your settings file as well, which the log zipper will include. Your zip file does not include this.

Also, I see from your logs that you have the mount type set to GTOCP2. You should change that to GTOCP3.

Lastly you must have the mount powered on when you connect to the driver. In your log, because the mount was not connected, the rates were not set correctly.

There is a Log Zipper utility that comes with the driver. You can use that to zip the logs and settings files.

Gert,

I just realized you are using a CP3. I don't usually test with old hardware anymore, so if you can reproduce the issue, upload a short ASCOM driver log to the files section, and I'll take a look at it.

Something went wrong with the AP driver. It moves the mount way too fast. When I move the mount with the

estimated about 100x too fast. Can you please fix it?

Re: AP Driver moves mount too fast

Ray Gralak

Hi Gert,

The top of the driver is yellow, meaning there are communication errors. That could be what's causing the problem. The driver sets up some parameters near the beginning of the connection and if there are errors the rates might not get setup correctly.

Hi Curtis,

I got your logs, but you didn't include the debug, and ppc files, which I would also like to see.

Also, can you provide the ASCOM log files for that time period? You can use the AP V2 ASCOM Log zipper, which operates similarly to the PEMPro log zipper.

But since anybody can look at it, I don't suppose there's much need for secrecy.

For all others who have a GTOCP4, Roland will be doing additional testing with that control box since there are some differences between the CP4 and CP5.

Ok, it's me again. [I started this thread].  I have not heard any news on when the Keypad will be available for delivery.  I am aware AP is working on the software instruction manual.  AP, do you have an update on when the manual will be complete / Keypad will be available ?  I do not own a laptop computer (only a desktop), so I am relying on the new Keypad as the interface with the Mach2 mount.  The mount is not very useful to me without it.  I realize everyone at AP is busy catching up on production and orders, but an estimated availability date update would be nice.  Thanks for all that you do.

We have parts for the 92TCC. The only problem was that the last batch of lens barrels had some spots from the anodize sub-contractor. We contacted the dealers who have these on order and told them that we could ship these with cosmetic flaws on the barrels, but we have not heard back from them whether they wanted these. meanwhile we have to make new barrels and have the anodizing done, a process that sometimes takes a month or more. Attached see the picture of the spots:

I don't think you need to do full sky modeling.  Model on the area you wish to image from the POD, and run with that.  Seems simpler.
